Plekanec...

Seeing just how useless this guy is in big games what are some realistic options for our #2 center. It would help if he has size.

Pouliot-Gomez-Gionta
A.Kostitsyn-(6'2"-200+ pound center)-Cammy

Just by adding a big bodied center in our top 6 we go from soft and small to not to soft and pretty big.

Frankenheimer 04-08-2010 10:00 PM

Seeing Stall manhandle our defense and crash the net certainly didn't make gangsterplex look too good. But then again, most of the team sucked.

InglewoodJack 04-08-2010 10:00 PM

Pretty sure Malkin is available for the right combination of mid range prospects and third liners.

Bourne Endeavor 04-08-2010 10:02 PM

Plek has 70 points on the season and has been one of the bright points of an otherwise bad year and you want to allow him to walk, ala every other good player we could have traded yet did not? Just going to leave this and mosey on along...

I'd rather keep Plekanec, make him grow by 3-4'' and add him 11 pounds then.

JHabs 04-08-2010 10:11 PM

Pleks is a Gangster, not his fault the rest of the team doesn't want to win.

Playmaker09 04-08-2010 10:13 PM

We're never going to do anything with Scott ******* Gomez on our team. End of story.

Poulet Kostopoulos 04-08-2010 10:21 PM

Four goals in his last 7 games.

Was it his fault if his wingers were useless?

Yeah, the numbers are in his favor, but he hasn't been playing well. Better than most though so you can hardly blame him.

You're on the wrong case scottyG, look at your username for the right one...

You've got to be kidding, right? right?

Santino 04-08-2010 10:32 PM

I say we do Pleks for Carolina's hot cheerleaders.. and a 2nd rounder.

Yeah, well, Cammy/Pyatt/Moen and AK ain't been stellar these past 20 games...

Agreed. He's definitely less sharp than earlier in the season -- a few too many hurried and blind passes.

But he's hardly useless.

Neither has Pouliot, Plekanec was putting up points at the beginning of the year when his wingers were struggling but even though his wingers haven't been helping him lately he hasn't been helping them much either. He's working hard but he's showing glimpses of the player from last year - playing on the perimeter, making many blind passes and taking shots from bad angles.

70 pts - 56 pts

$2,750,000 - $7,357,000

I can play that game too.

How about actually watching hockey for a change?

Gomez is the most predictable player to ever put on a pair of skates and his two or three set plays just don't work anymore.

Analyzer 04-08-2010 10:43 PM

Montréal never gets their man. We let Pleks go, Montréal will attempt to land that big centre, instead end up with a smaller, less physical and less skilled player than Pleks, but makes more. Basically, we'll end up with Horcoff.

Good players eventually become tired of having to carry a mediocre team on their shoulders. Perhaps Plek is fed up much like Halak was tonight and Price has been for weeks?

Erika 04-08-2010 10:47 PM

Scott Freakin Gomez is on our 1st line and you're complaining about Plekanec ?!?!

WOW !! Gomez is freakin useless and the way he's paid, this team is doomed for a long long time !!

I mean, how the hell can you go somewhere with this piece of junk as your 1st line center ?!

The Rangers threw their garbage out of town and Bob Gainey like beggar grabbed it.
Trully pathetic...

Plekanec >>> Gomez , anyday !!

:tinker:

wow, way to completely manipulate the stats in to making it believe that Gomez has been playing better
During those 20 games Gomez had 8 pts in 4 games
take away those 8 pts it wud bring Gomez down to 8 pts
also its quite ironic the you chose to start counting from the game after pleks had 2 pts, and started where the 1st 2 games pleks had 0 points

Well heres another start for you

Pleks 70 pts
Gomez 57 pts
not convinced yet?

Pleks 2.75 mill
gomez 7.357mill
still not convinced?

Pleks 27 entering his prime
gomez 30 clearly on the decline of his career

Plekanec has easily been our most consistent and best player this season
its mister mediocrity and his 7.357mill thats the problem

Poulet Kostopoulos 04-08-2010 10:50 PM

What a surprise, this thread turned into a Gomez bashing fest.

m00ks 04-08-2010 10:52 PM

Honestly, I don't even think the centers are the problem. I've made my peace with Gomez and know what to expect and also understand that Pleks would never terrorize the opposition offensively by himself. Both need wingers to look good and be effective and right now with Pouliot, Cammy and Andrei struggling, things aren't looking to bright.

But please, sign the man.
