Playoff Predictions (Round #1)

Even though the Wild's season is over, it doesn't mean that we still can't have a little fun here at HF Wild. On another board which I post on we have an annual contest for playoff predictions (round-by-round) and I thought maybe we could do that here.

The format goes like this. You pick which team you think will win and in which number of games. You get one point for guessing the team and one point for guessing the games. However, you must guess the team correctly in order to get the bonus point for the games. So for example, if you say Ottawa in 6 and Pittsburgh wins in 6, you get zero points.

Points double in the Cup Final. Winner is with the most points, ties are broken by whomever got the most points in the Cup Final, followed by Conference Final and on down the line. Best of luck, running stats will be kept by yours truly. Your picks are due by the start of game 1 on Wednesday.

FIRST ROUND MATCH-UPS:

WESTERN CONFERENCE

(1)San Jose v. (8)Colorado
(2)Chicago v. (7)Nashville
(3)Vancouver v. (6)Los Angeles
(4)Phoenix v. (5)Detroit

EASTERN CONFERENCE

(1)Washington v. (8)Montreal
(2)New Jersey v. (7)Philly
(3)Buffalo v. (6)Boston

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Colorado in 6 (taking a risk here)
Chicago in 5
Vancouver in 6
Detroit in 5

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Washington in 5
New Jersey in 4 (extra points for calling a sweep? No? Ok.)
Buffalo in 5
Pittsburgh in 5

Somehow I still feel like at least one of these 8 series will go to 7.. Can't put my finger on which one though.. It will probably be SJ & Colorado (obviously I didn't pick that.. But I'll have my pride if I'm right.)

Thought about it but didn't want to complicate things at first.

Just realized that you wrote Whales instead of Wales, which actually makes it even funnier.

Yeah, there's an error -- I'm not in 1st. But really, I feel like a complete dolt for not predicting that even one series would go to 7 games. I'll be getting my redemption in the 2nd round.

Ha, I actually thought it WAS Whales.

The point, as always, is I am a moron.
