This report came out yesterday and the Coyotes said (again, yesterday) that the deal isn't done yet.

Also, it's in the sticky.

LOL No worries.

I'd imagine when OEL signs his contract, he's going to want the #5. His favorite player is Lidstrom.

I would just hope that he isn't too intimidated by the prospect of having to play in the shadow of Matt Jones.

Hey, those are some big skates to fill. Big, stupid, no talent, skates to fill.

DouX 04-19-2010 10:57 PM

Good to see him signed, I am really enjoying this season, but our future is looked pretty awesome.

Coyote_Fan 04-19-2010 11:40 PM

Would like to see them bring him over to hang with the guys in the playoffs.

That's a great idea. That's a way better seat than from the living room.

How long does a cruise take? Google says a little under a week. Might as well get him on his way. He can eat all the cruise food he wants. :sarcasm:

GMDM was on NHL Live yesterday and he said the Coyotes and Larsson were close to a deal and that Larsson is expected to report to training camp.

I kinda figured he would use #7 since in most pictures I've seen he's had #3 or #7. Though maybe #5 was already being used by a teammate when those pictures were taken.

We really need to bring him here. Only con of OEL is his weight. I'm 5'8" and probably weigh more than the guy! hahah

Put on some weight and play in the USA, I hope to see him as a future captain on this team. He just seems to have all the intangibles.

Let's withhold lofty judgments like this one until he puts on the uniform.

I watched him in drills during the rookie camp and he does have the skills. He's got great vision of the ice, great defensive smarts and handles the puck well. He was fun to watch.

However, 1) that was just drills and 2) he does need more size to his frame.

XX 05-04-2010 06:22 PM

I'm going to ahead and just say Lidstrom doesn't really have a problem being sub 200. If he comes in at 180+ I fully expect him to flat out make the team. I don't think he is going to give any excuse for Tippet and Maloney to leave him off the roster. I think a reasonable expectation would be a Lepisto-like year, next season. Or he could just explode and be the next big thing. Wouldn't surprise me. Just as likely, he could struggle to adapt like Karlsson did at first.

I'm personally much more worried and/or excited to see what Boedker and especially Turris bring to the table next season. OEL will do just fine. Kid just has pure skill.

vippe 05-05-2010 09:14 AM

Hey guys, you can see him play live today @ http://svtplay.se/v/1983701/ishockey...onor_-_danmark

He's been playing extremly well as of late and was swedens best defenseman during the LG hockey games which is a 4 country tournament back in Sweden the past weekend. He has a great shot at making the swedish WC team aswell and I like to think he should be a lock for it aswell.

Kaizen 05-05-2010 02:16 PM

what number is he wearing?

#3. OEL's on the third pairing and he hasn't had the opportunity to do much but so far he's been flawless. No mistakes and he's made some really nice outlet passes. There was one pass in particular I don't think Jovo or Yandle could have made. I really hope Michalek resigns, an OEL/Michalek pairing two or three years from now would be formidable.

moosemeister 05-05-2010 02:45 PM

That one pass to Bergfors was SICK. The kid has hands and it's just so much fun watching him. A little hard to know when he's on the ice because I don't know a spit of Swedish. Or whatever they speak.

Bottom line is: when he is on the ice, he skates very smoothly. Like a unicorn. haha

This isn't even a game. lmao
