Jokinen to KHL

Ok, Here is the link to the article: http://www.lifesports.ru/news/21903

Here is the un-edited english version of the text:

Jokinen is looking for work in the KHL

Striker Olympic Team Finland Olli Jokinen is considering moving to the KHL. This season, a 31-year-old hockey player ends the contract with the Rangers.

New York Rangers club is not going to extend a contract with Jokinen, who's salary is $ 5.5 million.

Therefore Olli Jokine has focused on Russia.

Jokinen has been thrown from club to club. After 7 years in Florida. With out much success he tried himself in Phoenix and Calgary. Then before the deadline Jokinen was traded to NY Rangers.

- I was very upset by the trade, - complained Jokinen. - I was going to finish my career in Calgary."

But the club could not keep the forward on the bench, who is also receiving 5 million per year.

Things didn't go smoothly in New York either. He scored 4 goals in 26 games.
And didn't make the playoffs. Basically a typical story of a newcomer to KHL.

Right Now Jokinen is waiting for JUL 1st. Meanwhile his agent is learning the Russian market.

Reminds you of anything??? *Cough* JAGR....

WhipNash27 04-29-2010 09:35 AM

oh well. Good luck in Europe Olli.

Kel Varnsen 04-29-2010 09:35 AM

Has he actually committed to not returning to the NHL, or is he just saying he doesn't want to?

Fitzy 04-29-2010 09:36 AM

If you want to stay in the NHL as a top 6 player....

dont suck

pretty simple stuff. He can go slack off in the Finnish league if he wants.

pld459666 04-29-2010 09:38 AM

.

Any speculation of an over-seas hop is so premature.

I would bet that we don't hear of anything regarding Jokinen jumping overseas until mid to late July when signing season is in full bloom

Puckface NYR* 04-29-2010 09:39 AM

good for him, and good for the Rangers

you know what i feel....the KHL is becoming like the "old rangers" a retirement home for over the hump players lol

He's not too happy in New York so he's looking for a contract else where. Plus he's looking for a "better" pay.....

He knows that not every Organization Can Pay him 5 MIL Contract.

Celestial Black 04-29-2010 09:48 AM

I don't care where he goes as long as it's not on this team.

SingnBluesOnBroadway 04-29-2010 10:54 AM

Now that there's a link, the thread is reopened.

DMPD 04-29-2010 10:57 AM

Later, Joker.

Maybe his wife is a gold digger and wasn't fond of him taking a pay cut. :D

Crazyhorse30 04-29-2010 11:11 AM

Thank Oden

Jumbo* 04-29-2010 11:34 AM

Jagr was declining and wanted to still be paid like a superstar.

LundqvistGirl35 04-29-2010 11:57 AM

So I guess the Rangers Fans Are 50/50 on this one.....????

With Jags its a similar story, except I think he was a bit of a better player. Plus the age...

SomebodySaveKreider 04-29-2010 11:59 AM

Well then let me pack his bags!

I'll drive him to the airport too!

true, but Jagr actually had something to offer NYR & did succeeded in his career unlike Joker...

Belak Attack 04-29-2010 12:04 PM

Hehe, he thinks he's safe from all of us in Russia...

Wraparounds 04-29-2010 12:13 PM

We'll see less of him......Unless........

NYR Sting 04-29-2010 01:17 PM

Good riddance. Let him drive Russians crazy with his complete lack of hockey sense.

If he was hell bent on staying with the Rangers he would have instructed his agent to negotiate with Sather prior to July 1st, but they didn't.

Well, the way the Rangers org. screwed up by handing out huge contracts to Drury and Gomez pretty much laid the way for what was to come. Truth is, the Rangers should have been the Hell Bent ones on keeping Jagr. To see them let him walk, and then pay Rozsival 5 mil per was infuriating. Not to mention Redden. Consider that with Redden's atrocious contract plus Brashear's, would have been enough to retain Jagr, and would have made it difficult to throw money at Redden the next offseason. Yeah, i know that redden and brash may not be the best example, but switch that to Naslund/Somebody and you get the point...Bottom line is :there is no comparison ! Jagr and Jokinen are light years apart.

"a bit of a better player" ?! lol . Are you kidding? To say that Jagr is abit better than Jokinen would infer they are in a similar class, which is ludicrous. Jagr was a top 10 all time NHLér in my book, and Jokinen is pretty much a floating poo in comparison.:shakehead
