Gaborik goal total betting poll

How many do you think Gaborik will pot next year? I think he'll bounce back just fine. Look at Iginla and Theodore. Both bounced back after an off year after a breakout year.

MePutPuckInNet 05-10-2004 10:46 PM

I think it will entirely depend on who his linemates are [as it did this past season].

Legionnaire 05-11-2004 12:37 AM

I'll guess 33

Gaborik10 05-11-2004 03:27 PM

34. He'll have stuff to prove after this season...I think he's up to the challenge. I hope he plays with someone that can keep up with him though...and someone who can pass.

I totally agree with this, except I'll go further and say he'll end up with 35-40 goals. Linemates are important, but Marian's confidence will affect his goal total more.

Prolly 20+ in his first 20 games, 2 over the next 30 and another 15-20 the rest of the way... :banghead:

Gaborik10 05-12-2004 10:54 AM

It's like Lemaire said, he has confidence when he scores, it's not before the game "I'm a good player, I can get a goal because I work hard"....it's more, he has confidence when he scores, and usually only then. Hopefully, that will change pretty soon. If not, you're probably right on the 20 in the first 20 games, 2 in the next 30, and 15-20 the rest of the way!!

Surly Furious 05-12-2004 02:44 PM

I went with 25-30. We all know he has tremendous talent, but he is still streaky as hell. Someday he may put it together for 82 games, but I'm not sure next year will be the one.

Wild Bill 05-12-2004 03:12 PM

I think he needs at least 30 for this team to be realistically competitive...unless 2-3 other solid goal-scorers come out of the woodwork...which is unlikely.

Linemates are such a HUGE factor. Ask Patrik Elias if linemates make a difference. When a line has chemistry, goal scorers light the lamp. He can't do it by himself. If he is on a decent line, he can put up 30-40 goals without much effort. If he is on a line with a bunch of low-talent forecheckers, 30 goals will be a stretch.

SenatorPhil 05-16-2004 04:50 AM

I think that he will get 27 goals next year... Not spectacular, but not bad for a Wild team. How many goals do you guys think he could eventually get in his prime?

Safir* 05-16-2004 05:54 AM

I think that Marian will hit 31 next season. Whenever that will be.

Amen evil king 05-16-2004 06:40 AM

I say 37.. Time for Mr. Gaborik to break out I think.

DW 05-16-2004 11:42 AM

The guy needs to be consistent for an entire season for once. He needs to stay away from the 15-20 game goal-less streak.

He played pretty well down the stretch last season. There's no reason why he won't hit 30+ for the next season he plays-whenever that is. He's played with some less then competent linemates and scored 30 in a season. If I had to pick a number, I'd say 33 will be an attainable number for him. Could go even higher with a better team on the ice.

Gaborik10 05-16-2004 01:23 PM

Exactly....I'd rather have a consistent 60-70 point season than a 20 in the first 30 games, 1 in the next 20 games, and 20 in the next 30.

Rahan 05-17-2004 11:31 AM

I'd guess 19 goals, still has a lot to prove after that disappointing year.

Estey 05-17-2004 01:25 PM

that is if there is a next season!

I'd say around 40-50...With Wallin anchoring his line that'll be a fun pair to watch.

Gaborik10 05-17-2004 03:31 PM

Hope you're right!! We are going to need his best to make the playoffs. 40-50 sounds....he's got a long way to go yet, I think. Maybe that will be out of his reach, maybe not. I think the most important thing for him is to have a really good start to the season. If he does that, the next thing he's got to do is figure out how to keep it going. It always slips away, and these awful slumps are irritating. Wallin on his line would be pretty cool. They click.

thestonedkoala 05-17-2004 03:54 PM

I think it's important to remember that Wallin has some wicked skill in him and he usually puts up some good points with whoever is on his line. He's fast, he can feed, and he can create havoc in front of the net. Gaborik needs a guy like him on his line. Walz is good but I think he has no way the offensive talent that Wallin has in him.

who else do they put on that line? Wallin and Gaborik and ?

I like the idea, but that 3rd person would very important on so many different levels.

Gaborik10 05-17-2004 05:13 PM

Maybe Veilleux, Wanvig, or O'Sullivan, depending on who fits. Maybe even Dupuis. Add that with Gaborik and Wallin, and that's some good talent there.

my guess is it would have to be someone who isn't too afraid of some physical stuff...Wanvig would be nice, but I doubt he can make the jump from the Minors to the first line....maybe.

Wild Bill 05-18-2004 03:27 AM

Koivu anyone?

I'll disagree with you here Stoney - Walz plays a checking role now, but he was projected as an offensive player. His talent is underestimated by most, but he could be a 50 -60 point guy if that was what he was asked to do. I'll bet he would be a point per game plus if he were playing in the AHL, which is something Wallin hasn't managed in 2 seasons there.

BTW, do you really think Gaborik will top 40 goals?
