timbitca 05-19-2010 04:26 PM

Lovely... best case scenario October, just great

Gary320 05-19-2010 04:26 PM

RDS also report the same thing.

Atleast now we can forget about his return . I'm sure if he could play through the pain he would have played through the pain.

Clumsyhab 05-19-2010 04:26 PM

Confirmed on RDS as well. We can't say that he didn't try to comeback.

m00ks 05-19-2010 04:27 PM

Olala. Insane injury. Hopefully he can come back 100%. We really need to stop being Markov-dependant.

Natedawg 05-19-2010 04:27 PM

Gutsy by him to try to play through it.

Get well soon General!

MathMan 05-19-2010 04:28 PM

Ewww. Ew, ew, ew.

Just what the Habs need, they're already going to be life-and-death to make the playoffs next year. Great.

Clearly the guy will make a return by October + November. The season wont start till atleast the 2nd week of October..

Let's stop being over-dramatic about all this assuming that next year is over.

Captain Saku 05-19-2010 04:32 PM

i wonder what impact this injury will have on his contract extension talks

Galchenyuk94 05-19-2010 04:32 PM

No off-season training for Markov, no training camp :help:

He better be wearing those friggin kevlar socks, he's gotta be the unluckiest guy :shakehead

Galchenyuk x 27 05-19-2010 04:33 PM

Since it was announced he had a torn ACL, you knew it would be 6 months.

Him skating was false hope to almost all habs fans.

Comming from someone who has had experience of the injury, there was no way he was playing!

Ceux de Montreal 05-19-2010 04:34 PM

So we're in ECF and people are already saying we're roasted for next year?

Markov should go back in Russia as soon as the Habs win the cup, and take all the time / personnal needed to get better. Get well Markov. I love you.

It certainly won't help, what with -- as was pointed out -- no training camp and minimal off-season training. He's likely going to be off his game for most of the year.

Munchausen 05-19-2010 04:34 PM

Hopefully when he comes back he's not too far behind in terms of conditioning and game shape. It's one thing to lose him for the start of next year, it's quite another if he can't come back to his full potential for an extended period of time after that.

yathehabsrule 05-19-2010 04:35 PM

Confirmed by the Habs

Habs press release

Meaning a mid-November return. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and can be back sooner. He was able to do that earlier this season, so let's cross our fingers.

This has been a reoccurring theme for the past 3 years, not too sure about this one anymore.

Markov4Captain 05-19-2010 04:36 PM

This guy can't catch a break.

At least this forces the team to learn how to play without him. I just hope he comes back next season at the top of his game without any long term consequences.

JHabs 05-19-2010 04:38 PM

Montreal needs to sign dfds with a great first pass, and some decent speed. Thats how we can stop becoming Markov dependent.

Saint Patrick 05-19-2010 04:39 PM

Subban will be ready for a full time gig next year, but we need another dman who can move the puck. We arent leaving it all with PK.

Hannibal 05-19-2010 04:39 PM

31 years old, 2 ACL injuries + 1 other major injury, all in 1 year...

I think that he's now an injury prone player...

Go Habs Go 05-19-2010 04:39 PM

Though there's nothing really positive about this news and its actually very horrible but there is one small spark of light. Markov won't be able to negociate a huge salary after two seasons of injuries. Hopefully we'll be able to resign him later for a little less. Mind you, I would trade any sort of discount in for 2 healthy seasons of Markov.

felixd 05-19-2010 04:40 PM

Oh man. Our cap situation is really bad. It would be great to get a decent offensive defenseman as a UFA as an insurance policy, someone like a Joe Corvo or Dennis Seidenberg but theyll both command around 3 million. Keeping in mind the players we have to re-sign, do we really have the space for another 3 million plus player? Paul Martin is a UFA as well and that would be a pipe dream, but there's no way NJD lets him go.

Dean Ambrose 05-19-2010 04:46 PM

That means a November return. This guy can't catch a break lately. Hopefully the recovery process goes well for him and he returns at 100% when he does return.

coolasprICE 05-19-2010 04:47 PM

Will this make him a slower and less effective now?

Are his best days over?

Only 2 things I care about
