would you do this trade?

i have been offered this in a mock draft for james sheppard.

casey pierro zabotel and a 2011 3rd rd pick

would you take this? gives us a little room for player movement

this trade is from pittsburgh

UMD05 05-20-2010 12:29 PM

Yes.

mnwildgophers 05-20-2010 12:45 PM

I'd take a video of James Sheppard falling for James Sheppard.

Jarick 05-20-2010 12:49 PM

In a heartbeat, yes.

shleeban 05-20-2010 12:57 PM

sheppard has officially been traded.

im also working on a deal with anaheim
schultz-lupul straight up
we shall see where that goes

GopherState 05-20-2010 01:04 PM

Late to the party, but yes I'd do it.

shleeban 05-20-2010 01:26 PM

if you guys want to follow my progress in the mock draft it is under the mock draft section and it is rangerfans mock draft. first rd starts the 24th but trades started yesterday

shleeban 05-24-2010 08:40 PM

New trade

Im pretty confident this is fair value what do you guys think? This would bring in a 2nd line scoring center who has speed, I believe this move will make us very close to contenders filling the 2nd line center need. Therefore making the 2011 first rd pick low value.

to phi:
Josh harding
Tyler Cuma
2011 1st
2010 2nd Was
2010 3rd

for:
Jeff carter

GopherState 05-24-2010 08:46 PM

Does anyone think we are one player away from contending? I thought it was in fact the opposite.

this providence 05-24-2010 09:00 PM

Ya, I wouldn't do it. I just don't think this team has the pieces to make a significant run to justify giving up all those assets.

shleeban 05-24-2010 09:11 PM

i wasnt saying itd make us an instant contender, but might make us one piece away,
i believe this years playoffs have shown that even terrible teams can make runs anyways, i was just thinking of the insane numbers a latendresse-carter-havlat line would make. I believe it may seem like it makes more sense to me because in the team i have built right now our lines look something like this before i trade a few players for salary dump.

bruno-koivu-lupul
latendresse-carter-havlat
kobasew-almond/wellman-mittens
Kassian-brodziak-clutterbuck

barker-burns
zanon-zidlicky
stoner-falk/noreau/FA

backstrom
khudobin

The thing is, the first two groupings for both offense and defense are a nice start. But when you get beyond that you really see the flaws that the team would have. Add in some injuries here and there and you're in big trouble. Hypothetically, of coarse, in this case.

It is a mock after all, so have fun with it and do what you want to do. That's what they are there for. Don't let us impact your decisions.

Plus throw in the fact that there is going to be no help in the future with all three of the top five or six prospects in an already ****** pipeline being gone.

shleeban 05-24-2010 09:40 PM

solid points, i think itd be soo cool to be a hockey gm and get to make all these decisions hoping for a good turn out in the future, its almost like a crazy game of chess.

GopherState 05-24-2010 09:46 PM

It's a combo of chess and poker because you have to not show your cards and get the best deal for the best price.

That's an ugly, ugly defense.
