Habs sign free agent defenceman Kyle Klubertanz

According to this badly translate report

that's the guy : http://www.forecaster.ca/thestar/hockey/player.cgi?4644

BulldogFever 05-27-2010 06:37 AM

Why did this guy play 5 games in the AHL and then skip off to Europe. David Fischer part deux!!!

felixd 05-27-2010 06:44 AM

Anyone know anything about him or seen him play? Looks like he had quite the season in Sweden:

2009-10 Djurgarden Swe 55 12 19 31

Good numbers for a D

Djugarden ahve some really good players, Josefson, Engvist, Wasslau...

Reminds a lot of Andre Benoit, smooth skating puck moving d-man, nice stats for the SEL, better stats than Benoit when he went.

Talent Analysis

A smooth-skating blueliner with plenty of offensive potential, Klubertanz also has a fiesty attitude. Despite his average size, he doesn't back down and plays with a chip on his shoulder. His greatest attribute is his puckmoving skills. He also sees the ice extremely well and is excellent at reading the play. His time in the college system should be devoted to developing his potential further as well as improving his defensive play. He also needs to get stronger to continue to play his style.

A third round draft choice in 2004 and a wizard at moving the puck, Klubertanz is still very much a project. He has plenty of offensive potential and could be a future powerplay quarterback if all goes well. His size may hold him back from being a top pairing blueliner, but his drive and hard work could ensure that he does get a regular roster spot.
Markov / Subban like player hopefully!

The guy doing the interview sounds like he ripped a few bong hits beforehand!

This is clearly swedens best hockey reporter, I don't know if he ever has been wrong. This should be very very likely to happen.

Of what I saw from Djurgarden he played really well, maybe their best defenseman. He is a solid defenseman with pretty good upside, plays hard despite his lack of size. He has a good first pass and his skating is about average. 5th in scoring for defenseman in SEL with his 12+19=31p in 55G, had 5p more than Engqvist in the same amount of games played. Also love that he is right-handed

Should be a very good depth signing for Hamilton with a small chance of playing in Montreal if they get som injuries.

Agalloch 05-27-2010 08:08 AM

So.. with only Weber & Nash signed for next year for Hamilton, that signing would be a good addition.

OneSharpMarble 05-27-2010 08:26 AM

Sorry guys I hate to tell you this but his name is much too silly for him to be any good.

I don't make the rules. :(

Was gonna make the exact same comment, but lo and behold, you beat me to it.

Anyhoo, one of those signings that's impossible to get excited about, but he seems to be a decent player who's well aware of his strengths, and what weaknesses he needs to address. Who knows how long he'll be willing to stick around in Hamilton though.

The Habs are stocking up organizationally on young, puck moving defenders.

Hamilton should have Carle, Weber and this guy next year, that's going to be a nice defense.

Hopefully one of them can put it together and join Montreal (where I am assuming Subban will already be) in the next year or two.

I'd assume ATO, then never got a full contract from the Ducks.

While Belle COULD sign with the Habs, he is actually a Group VI unrestricted free agent, not having made the NHL after 5 years in the minors.

llamateizer 05-27-2010 10:38 AM

Its Confirmed

Assuming he was just added to the database, I'm wondering why his most recent stats aren't included in his career list... man NHL.com tends to really suck for that.
