I know I posted this on the Canes board, but I love those picks by SLake from a Canes perspective.

Pretty good drafting for the Oilers.

Would be insanely disappointed with Bjugstad at 10. Just no.

VikingAv 06-04-2010 11:08 PM

Good job by Jori/Avs. I wouldn't mind if the first two rounds ended with Campbell and Zucker, though I'm not as high on Campbell as the rest of the Avs fans. A little surprised at Gardiner in the third round, with his skating issues. I would rather have taken Bulmer or Nemeth with that pick, but all in all, a good job by the Hockey Goddess!

I would be more dissapointed in the fact we passed on Tarasenko in that situation. I would like to hear the reasoning though, Bjugstad isn't a bad prospect.

Caught a Gudbranson radio interview after the combine. He said the only fly-ins he had scheduled were on Long Island and Columbus. I would assume Florida has it narrowed down to Fowler/Gormley, if they haven't decided already.

No way Weal falls to 48th Overall, Weal will go from 30-37th.

Staalguy 06-05-2010 08:44 PM

not trying to be a huge dumb guy here but Tampa owns LA's third round pick

I disagree. The Oilers have a plethora of young forwards and taking solid dmen (who were available) in the 2nd round should be a priority.

Other than Faulk, I see no "solid d-men" reaching for ahead of Kabanov. Personally, I may have gone with Faulk, but you cannot fault taking Kabonov at #31. He may have fallen in the last few months, but not one of the d-men you suggest being available has ever been valued as high as he has.

Prospects are always a crapshoot and you take your best shot. And Kabonov, if he pans out, will look like a brilliant steal at #31. Any of those d-men will likely project as a "good pick" at #31.

Seriously, if you're the Oilers, what is the risk of Kabanov at 31 over a mixed-bag of d-men with potential?

I see no issue with that pick.

I'm surprised with Kabanov at 31. I would be cautiously thrilled if we got him. However, I think in the 3rd round we could pick up a Dman or something.

bjugstad at 10?

Pure 06-08-2010 01:51 PM

Nice pick with Campbell, a top 10 talent if he wasn't a goalie. Fits our future needs perfectly. We wouldn't need to worry about the most important position in hockey for a long time.

Zucker fits perfectly into what the Avs would draft. Two-way player, hard working, high hockey IQ, going to DU.

Tampa owns Florida's pick (#63) which was acquired by LA at last year's draft and then flipped to Tampa in the Halpern deal. The Kings still have their own 3rd round pick (#79).

Hollywood Cannon must have busy with all of those Flyers draft picks :sarcasm:

sparxx87 06-23-2010 07:32 PM

Wheres Devante Smith-Pelly?
IMO he'll be a mid-late 2nd rounder and will undoubtedly go in the first 3 rounds.

It was a tough job but somebody had to do it.

I got Sundher right, just not at the right pick. :biglaugh: Other than that... three other swing-and-a-miss picks.

The correct thing to say would be:

"I was going to take Pysyk at 23 and MacKenzie at 83, but neither of them were unavailable."
