King and Flyers deal?

I have been talking with a friend over the deal of hamhuis. If we manage to get him signed, i believe that homer will look to move a forward instead of letting coburn or carle go. With Carter's recent struggles with the post-season maybe a change will help out both teams. LA might miss out on kovulchuck, and whats not better than getting another 40 goal scorer and someone you can give any linemates to score with.

So what about

To the flyers - Brayden Schenn + 1st Rounder + Jonathan Quick/ Bernier(i wanted bernier, he said Quick)

To the Kings - Jeff Carter

You think both teams take this trade? Go easy on me, it's my first proposal :D

BillyShoe1721 06-20-2010 03:32 PM

I would happily do it, but the Kings certainly would not. They do not want to move Schenn. Lombardi has already said he won't trade Quick/Bernier until they battle it out for a season, then he will able to decide who he wants to go with as his starter going forward, and he will trade the other, likely Quick.

Haute Couturier 06-20-2010 03:32 PM

It's a good proposall, but I don't think it would happen. The Kings don't want to deal either goalie. By the way, I feel we have to get back Bernier if we deal Carter.

DeadPhish5858 06-20-2010 03:33 PM

Definitely for the Flyers. I doubt Kings go for it though.

dookie88 06-20-2010 03:38 PM

I'd rather have Brown and Quick, it solves the goaltending position and we get 75-80% of Carters production back while adding to our already good forechecking game by adding one of the best in that part of the game.

I don't think the kings even look at a deal involving Brown. It just wont happen. He is a poster boy for their team

dookie88 06-20-2010 03:45 PM

Probably true, it's just that many Kings fans see him as not untouchable. I want some size back if Carter's leaving and while Brown isn't huge, he plays bigger than he is.
I think we can use some size at right wing, and that use turns into a need if Carter leaves.

Schenn might be ready next year but I wouldn't count on him being a main contributor already, we saw what happened with JVR last season.
The first doesn't help us win a cup in the window we have right now.

I was thinking that, but schenn is a big body, and is only going to get bigger, and the first gives us two prospects hopfully to put back in the cupboard. Something we desperatly need right now. Not to mention you solve your goaltending woes for 4 years with quick at 1.8 million. Bargain.

Then if you use the money saved on carter to have hamhuis signed up at 4 mil, you use the rest of the cap space to fill your void in the team up front. It's not like we don't have any cap room at all.

Gagne - Richards - (Recchi)
Hartnell - Briere - Leino
JVR - Giroux - (Evgeny Artyukhin??)/Schenn
Lappy - Betts - Carcillo

Pronger - Carle
Kimmo - Coburn
Hamhuis - Bartulis

Quick
leighton

Doesn't look great up front, but not horrendous, and the D corps is easily the best in the league with a decent goaltender.

With the draft being in LA, I think you can forget about the Kings dealing away their first round choice.

signing Patrick Marleau

usahockey22flyers 06-20-2010 04:02 PM

No need to add Hartnell and the pick, really.

I still hope we keep Carter, he seems like a good teammate and is very close to our captain (which shouldn't be underestimated).

Carter for Brown and Quick? Yeah right.

DrinkFightFlyers 06-20-2010 04:45 PM

That is ridiculous. Carter is good, but that is a future star (presumably), a first rounder, and a franchise goalie. The Kings have no incentive to do this.

While I would take that in a heartbeat, there is no chance LA moves Brown. That would be like trading Richards for Sopel.

There is no way that you are going to get that much for Carter. Take out the 1st then I think it might happen.

JDinkalage Morgoone 06-20-2010 05:20 PM

The Kings get jobbed terribly in that proposal.

Guest123 06-20-2010 05:56 PM

Flyers won't have Quick or Bernier on their squad.

A trade around Brown/Carter is very possible if Lombardi decides to get drunk with Homer.

DMadd 06-20-2010 06:11 PM

and that is a good possobility with their reputations.

CTU2fan 06-20-2010 06:51 PM

If Schenn gets traded anywhere but Toronto Brian Burke's head would explode.

matthew barry in his blog on hockey buzz

Another Great Flyers Castoff Joining Kings Staff?
2007-08 Hockey News Coach of the Year John Stevens is looking like he’ll be the defensive co-ordinator, taking over from Mark Hardy. The players are going to love him.

this adds another dynamic to any trade between la and phila. i am sure that the kings will get john's opinion.

CS 06-20-2010 07:31 PM

Quick, who did Stevens love?

EDIT: P.S. Hahahaha. Defensive coordinator? Hahaha. I hope LA's ready for the breakout passes.

dbr2 06-20-2010 07:36 PM

he must be trying to follow randy jones lol.

I hope la fans can hold onto their hats!

dgaspari 06-20-2010 08:04 PM

another dynamic enters any trade between l.a and phila. matthew barry also hints in his article in hockey buzz that AEG President Tim Leiweke is growing impatient with Dean Lombardi. lombardi has not been offered a contract extention

per barry

Lombardi has often compared his young team to the Stanley cup winning Chicago Blackhawks. He claims he’s “ahead of schedule”, but does Leiweke look at it that way? AEG and Leiweke see one playoff appearance in 8 years and although he’s allowed Lombardi free reign to stock the franchise with draft picks, college free agents and decent trades, the pressure to take it to the next level and not just be a Nashville Predator/Calgary Flames one-and-done team will be tremendous for Dean Lombardi in the following 10 days.

with all this pressure, it might force lombardi to make a trade quickly to win now and he may be wiiling to give up some of his young players and prospects to win quickly. i am sure the management team sees the lakers winning all the time and has a bit of envy
