I had the thread prepped and ready to go!

Two weeks for one of these threads is unbelievably fast. The next few days will be hot and heavy.

At this point in his career you can't say Quick is better than Turco, Biron, Theodore, Leighton, or Niittymaki.

There about 8 UFA goaltenders that are as good, or comparable to Quick.

Biron to the Flyers makes a lot of sense. Him and Briere are really good friends. Plus Biron already played well for them.

Thought i'd post this since Ek has hit on rumors on back to back days.

We may have Kovy's Rights according to Ek,

BigKing 06-24-2010 12:01 AM

I've maintained that LA will trade for his rights and announce it at the draft to excite those of us that will be attending. I believe Lombardi has two 3rd rounders to play with. Steep for a guy who says he has every intention of waiting until July 1st but, if LA is Kovy's first choice as rumored, then it would be a great move.

Ha, of all the goalies on the list these are the goalies I would say without a doubt Quick is better then, the fact that Leighton is on the list really shows people are big on what have you done for me lately.

DL won't give up more than a 6th for his rights, unless he is gonna sign at 9:01am PT.

KingCanadain1976 06-24-2010 12:08 AM

I actually think DL has made a trade and is just waiting to make the annoucement at the draft. Even if its just getting the right to Kovy hes going to annouce something there. A new coach isnt enuff to get the place rocking but trading for the rights to kovy would be i think.

I wouldn't be suprised if DL has Kovy's rights and gets him signed by noon on friday. Then makes the announcement at the draft and has Kovy make the pick.

DL doesn't strike me as being into the dog and pony shows.

Let's just get him. That is enough

DL might not be, but AEG is and I am sure the NHL wouldn't mine the Hollywood ending

This. If Kovalchuk is a King on July 1st, it will likely have Lieweekly's fingerprints all over it.

If it does happen and Lieweekly's fingerprints are "all over it" he gets a considerable pass from me for a good long time!

Big mistake for Leiweke to think he knows anything, about anything when it comes to player personnel or building a winning team.

Quick certainly hasn't proven himself to be better than Nabokov, Turco, Theodore, Biron, Mason or Ellis. Other UFA goaltenders are debatable.

But the point is, is that there are plenty of goaltending options, and it doesn't make much sense for a team to give assets in to acquire Quick.

Biron makes much more sense for Philly.

I doubt it. I think Dean is more in charge than some of you think. Leiweke, even with that potentially monster ego, doesn't want to **** this team up again.

DAkings20 06-24-2010 01:01 AM

is hockeybuzz down for anyone else?

NO!, Turco is donnnnnneeee the Stars got rid of him for a keeper that hasn't proven anything and is injury prone. Theo???? Really besides one season 5 years ago and choking while being on the Caps what has he done?? Biron 5 years ago he had upside, now he is a back-up keeper. Mason was so good his team traded a great young forward prospect to get his replacement. Ellis has never carried the load, and if he was worth anything Nash woulda keep him instead. Nabokov is the only one I would say is better.
