Interesting.

thadd 06-25-2010 06:59 PM

That's it? I would have at least thrown in Nashville's 2nd rounder...

worstfaceoffmanever 06-25-2010 07:00 PM

Well, that's a shocker. :sarcasm:

TimeZone 06-25-2010 07:01 PM

I can't believe the panthers would decline such a strong offer.:sarcasm:

usual suspects 06-25-2010 07:01 PM

pretty lame offfer imo

Crumblin Erb Brooks 06-25-2010 07:01 PM

I hear Florida also declined Cam Janssen for the 15th

Biggzy* 06-25-2010 07:01 PM

LOL what a lowball offer.

Bryan Allen for Ales Hemsky.

re5piration 06-25-2010 07:04 PM

LOL, probably couldn't even get the 33rd for Cogs.

The Mars Volchenkov 06-25-2010 07:05 PM

And Tallon laughed in their face.

The Expert 06-25-2010 07:07 PM

No wonder Cogliano hasn't improved very much, he hears that he's been offered in so many trades.

Blackhawkswincup 06-25-2010 07:07 PM

What a weak offer

At least throw in pick #31 to maybe get them to think about it

oilers4life5 06-25-2010 07:10 PM

WOW you guys underate cogs so much it is not even funny, get a clue!:help:

If the trade had gone through you would be trashing him, guaranteed.

Ovechking 06-25-2010 07:11 PM

I'm sure it wasn't Cogliano straight up.

Hertl Power 06-25-2010 07:12 PM

Wow Tambellini is overvauling his assets. Maybe he did offer just Hemsky for the number two pick.

From lolEcklund:

Flames and Flyers talking, Marty St. Louis may be available, Spezza to Calgary (e3), Oilers talking to NY Rangers about Cogliano. more...

Seems like Cogliano is being shopped around hard.

Reason for Cogs being shopped, he wasn't good last year, infact he was pretty horrible. He doesn't fit into any spot that the oilers have open.

On what planet is a guy who has regressed for three consecutive years worth a mid-1st rounder?

CupofOil 06-25-2010 07:19 PM

Very Lame, at least if Tambellini added the 31st, that would make more sense.

HuMz 06-25-2010 07:39 PM

wow I can't believe how much Cogliano gets underated around here. The guy scored 18 goals in his rookie year and the following year. One bad season and the guy is all of a sudden garbage.

Look at the the past 15th overall picks the last few years, i'd just about take Cogs over any of them.

He's regressed in points for every one of his 3 years in the league. He's not worth a mid-1st rounder. Not on this planet, nor on any other.

He's a sweetner in a package for a nice pick, that's it, and that's all.

He is a good 3rd line center and a below average 2nd line center, not worth the 15th.
Karlsson was a good pick up at 15. Holland is still unknown.

Xander Crews 06-25-2010 07:56 PM

Umm if im taking a forward in the first round i am hoping for someone who can get atleast 20 goals.

Cogs cant do that. Hes had 3 years and isnt even improving and has no signs of improving.

Not even Florida was dumb enough to take this trade.

Cogliano is also a victim of circumstances. You have Horcoff who's obviously going to get top minutes becuase of his ******** contract, and the previous hope of the Oilers in Sam Gagner. He's been playing with wingers like Moreau, and Stortini. In his rookie season when he played with Gagner, and Nilsson for the last half of the season and did great. Not to mention last summer couldnt have been easy on him knowing his team traded him. Out of 15 forards drafted in the first round in 2005; only 4 have outscored Cogliano(and only 6 in the entire draft)

That's a nice story and stuff, but if you owned the #15 pick in the draft (Tarasenko), would you trade it for Cogliano?
