Mika Silfverberg 06-28-2010 11:49 AM

good luck cheech!

Agalloch 06-28-2010 11:51 AM

Maybe Phoenix are trying to same money for Michalek?

Powdered Toast Man 06-28-2010 11:51 AM

So I guess this mean Calgary ends up getting nothing for Jokinen except a buyout caphit.

LOL sutter, could have just let Jokinen walk and it would have been better.

w00t!

Kotalik is gone. :jump: Better stay gone.

Areid1990 06-28-2010 11:52 AM

Sigh..... Go Sutter Go ?

tp71 06-28-2010 11:52 AM

Heres good luck to Cheechoo, I really hope the guy can turn it around somewhere. It really sucks whats happened to him.

Grandpabuzz 06-28-2010 11:53 AM

The only player I would like the leafs to look at out of those is Koistinen. He could be the 7th defenseman this season, especially if we move Kaberle. He's performed decently, given the amount of ice time Florida has given him.

caley 06-28-2010 11:54 AM

Boy that was a helluva deal Sutter made for Jokinen.

Trades Matt Lombardi, Brandon Prust, and Brandon Gormley for Olli Jokinen
Then he traded Jim Vandermeer to get Prust back
Then he trades Jokinen and Prust for Kotalik and Higgins

So, essentially he traded

Lombardi, Prust, Gormley, Jokinen, Vandermeer and Prust again to return Higgins and Kotalik

And now Kotalik's contract is going to sit as dead-space on the Flames' cap and if they don't re-sign Higgins that will be all to show for a whole pile of players.

lightning_legwand* 06-28-2010 11:55 AM

what kind of cash would cheechoo want??

He was panicking to try and get some scoring. We also have Higgins who we will be able to sign for cheap and hopefully he can hit almost 30 goals again this year.

That is a harsh reality.

Absolutely brutal.

Respectfully disagree. He was awful for Florida. So bad in fact DeBoer moved him to a 4th line forward position, then scratched him, then sent him to the minors b/c there was no place for him on a defense that gave up bucket loads of shots. He tore his ACL in the A after that so buyer beware. I remember when we signed him how the Predator fans warned us on how bad he was and then Sexton touted him as a top 4 defenseman! So that's 2 defenses, Nashville & Florida's, that he couldn't cut it on...

No, you don't have Higgins. He is a UFA.

caley 06-28-2010 11:58 AM

Though, I guess, in fairness, it's more like

Kotalik's buy-out price vs. Brandon Gormley

seeing as everyone else is headed for buy-outs or UFA

Keep thinking that.

He became a multi millionaire for having one good season. Doesn't suck at all!

Section311 06-28-2010 12:00 PM

Kotalik waived??? That trade believe it or not now makes even less sense

I think Cheechoo would love a league minimum contract just to be given another shot.

If the Shark's had room (position wise) i'd consider it. He's all heart, and a fan favorite.

gino718711 06-28-2010 12:01 PM

I still think that Kotalik still has some in the tank........ Cheechoo idk about just because he couldnt even crack ottawa's roster. I do think that Kotalik is still a 20+ goal scorer given a chance on the Pens

With OEL and Goncharov at least ahead of him right now Gormley has very, very little chance of making the Coyotes next year.
