Who will be the Sharks starter in NET??!?

With Nabby leaving the Bay Area....who will realistically be the starting goalie next season?

SharksAddict 06-29-2010 02:23 AM

Turco, Ellis, or Greiss would be my guess.

TheUndertow40Six2 06-29-2010 02:24 AM

Chuck Norris.
His swift roundhouse kick will ensure that NO ONE will crash the net.

fasterthanlight 06-29-2010 02:25 AM

Wallin. His salary is so high he will need to play 2 positions.

Tealblood 06-29-2010 02:27 AM

lalime- cheap, tall, veteran, with sweet playoff numbers. But he'll split with greiss or stalock.

AKM83 06-29-2010 02:27 AM

I think we'll go 3FW and 3D

wingsarekings* 06-29-2010 02:27 AM

Why not make a poll?

Rickety Cricket 06-29-2010 02:29 AM

My idea was to just sign Volchenkov to a $5 mil salary and he can both be a top 4 dman and goalie.

I see Lalime as a goalie who's never really adapted to post lockout hockey, his numbers post lockout speak for themselves.

He reminds me of a Theodore or Raycroft who were good one year or two prelockout but have faded since all the new rules and equipment changes.

ahahhahahahh...i'd take Chuck, but there is a salary cap and he'd need more what's allowed.

Woah...is that u in your Avatar? interesting...i need to show that to someone who'd enjoy the laugh :yo:

i don't know how to do that :shakehead

Kitten Mittons 06-29-2010 02:45 AM

I'd like Ellis but there has been no talk about DW's interest in him.

Turco @ $2.9mil it is... *sigh*

I hope to God it is not Leighton though.

Here is my guess: He signs for league minimum, then intimidates Gary Bettman into switching their yearly earnings. Our cap is safe AND Bettman gets the shakedown!

As to your other question...

who would you rather have Turco or Thomas?

do you think the Sharks would take Thomas if the Bruins ate some of his salary?....regardless, in my view i'd stay away from Thomas!

If I was looking to pay that much money I would have given it to Nabby.

Fred Flintstone 06-29-2010 03:22 AM

an over paid turco, courtesy of dw continuing his reign of this horrible off season:shakehead

Nighthock 06-29-2010 04:00 AM

Don't we already have a thread dedicated to this?

Semak 06-29-2010 04:25 AM

Just out of curiosity, how's Sateri viewed by SJ? How is he developing?

sjshark91 06-29-2010 04:32 AM

With Doug at the wheel anyone and everyone is an option I would have to say some one like Smith, Toskala, Ellis, Mason, Turdo, Emery, Auld. So create a wheel put 15-20 names on it, spin, then throw darts. That's how Doug does it....

like leighton, he had a bad season and then was thrown in the ahl for a few seasons. Then a few backup roles.

I'm just suggesting him as cheap veteran competition for the youngsters :P

I don't think any of us can give the organisation's view on the guy, but I'm rather high on him, he was quite terrific for Tappara in Finland last season.

Evgeny Oliker 06-29-2010 09:37 AM

...

I have a few serious questions for you guys if you don't mind:

1. Greiss - Does he have #1 potential? I understand that SJ might sign someone with more experience for this season. But in general, those of you who have seen him play a lot with SJ, do you feel that he has the potential to be a #1 goalie in the NHL?

2. Prospects - Out of all of the SJ goalie prospects (Sateri, Stalock, Sexsmith, Greiss, etc), who do you feel has the most potential to be a #1 goalie in the NHL?

Thank you!

1. Yes he does

2. Stalock looks to be the future #1, greiss was good in the chances he got last year, sexsmith had a bad year last year and needs to rebound to be in the sharks plans, sateri we haven't seen in ahl competition to make judgement yet, but the hype is high on him.

Spacemania 06-29-2010 10:17 AM

Griess is gonna go in net, thats my gut call. Any goalie that would come in would be a cheap backup for him.

Artful_Dodger* 06-29-2010 10:35 AM

We'll play 6 on 5 all game to make sure Wallin gets his requisite 20min TOI.
