Drop-in hockey in Austin, Tx
Anyone here go to drop-in at Chaparral in Austin?
I'm wondering what the skill level is normally like at those.
I played roller for years when I was younger and have been playing ice for 2 or 3 months. I can skate and stickhandle just fine and don't think I'd have a problem hanging but I just don't want to get out there and get run over by a bunch of A guys.
I dont go too often and haven't been to one in a while. But from what I remember, friday noon drop in at the I35 location is usually high level (some ex pros). Northcross mall Sunday nights are lot more friendlier to newer players. Also, the northcross ones aren't as filled up, unlike the I35 ones, so you get more skating time. Theres also a hockey light for B/C players, which is like a season of prepaid drop ins, but I think its filled up for the summer season. Do you play in any of the leagues right now? You could also sign up for the sub list for C or B league if youre interested. You need to sign up for usa hockey insurance though.
