Canucks Re-Sign F Alexandre Bolduc to 1-Year Deal, $500,000 (Two-Way Deal)

At 500,000. Will give a push for 4th line center if healthy

It will be perfect if he starts with the Moose so we know we have a center we can call up and use in that 4th line role.

If he starts on the NHL club it will mean our depth at center is pretty bad and we'd be in trouble if one went down.

He's a great number 5 on the old depth chart.

more like #6, 7 in my books.

Placebo Effect 07-03-2010 12:25 AM

150k less than I thought. He'll be our 13th forward at best anyways.

fosterchild420 07-03-2010 12:27 AM

he'll push for the fourth line centre job with perrault and hansen i figure.god it is good to have depth :)

me2 07-03-2010 12:36 AM

smart. His chances of making the bigs go up the less he signs for, and he'll make more if he gets to the nhl than being stuck in the minors.

Lucbourdon 07-03-2010 12:43 AM

very solid fourth liner, good signing

I think our 4th line centre is going to be Bliznak.

vanuck 07-03-2010 01:40 AM

Good signing, I wouldn't mind him on the 4th line next year if he can play and PK. We need more ELC contracts on the roster anyway.

Eric 07-03-2010 01:46 AM

There's a very good chance he makes this team as the 4th line center. I was really impressed with him last year. Good speed, penalty killing and decent hands. He should stop fighting though.

timw33 07-03-2010 02:07 AM

Two Way Deal.

105K in the AHL (max before waivers come into effect, right?).

Like this signing.

topheavyhookjaw 07-03-2010 02:14 AM

Good, he'll definitely challenge for the #4C spot. I thought his play was coming around until he inexplicably took on Scott in that fight. I think he could earn a close to full time spot on the team, although I'm sure that is not the popular opinion on here.

GCM 07-03-2010 02:17 AM

Glad to hear it. Thought it would cost more to be honest.

It's nice having an owner like Aquaman ^_^

Likewise with Hansen. These 2 guys have spunk - and you gotta appreciate that - but their hands just aren't meant to be used for fighting. Seriously, I will be effing pissed if Hansen breaks his hand in a pre-season fight again.

Glad to hear it. I've been pencilling Bolduc in as a 14th forward who will see time when slumps/injuries dictate. Imo he has all the makings of a real solid bottom 6 player.

Thank goodness you don't KNOW. :yo:

Hammer79 07-03-2010 08:25 AM

He'll probably see some ice time with the big club this year as he's cap friendly and responsible without the puck.

TimmyJayhawk 07-03-2010 10:47 AM

This is good.

tantalum 07-03-2010 10:54 AM

Certainly can't complain about that signing.

LostMyGlasses* 07-03-2010 10:55 AM

Its always fun watching undersized and undergunned fourth liners run around trying to take on other fouth liners.

Rypien is 'undergunned'? Who has more guns than him in the NHL? Maybe the super heavyweights.

Try again.

Edit: Lets get Jaffray on our fourth line again! It was always fun watching him get worked over.

alternate 07-03-2010 11:08 AM

Wait, isn't bolduc like 6'2" 210lbs? Can't look it up at the moment but iirc....

Balls Mahoney 07-03-2010 11:20 AM

Huzzah for fulfilling our psychotic french quotient. I wouldn't be surprised if he was our 4th line center this season.

Well im sure rypien would be undergunned against John Scott, which is why claiming Bolduc is undersized or undergunned against that giant slug is rather silly given that every 4th line player would be in that situation.

The canucks are obviously interested in Aaron Asham. You act like they aren't looking at adding a little toughness to the bottom six. They dealt for Oreskovich, and im guessing Desbiens gets a good look at camp after the playoffs he had with the Moose.

I almost get the feeling that you wouldn't be happy until there is 23 guys on the roster that will drop the gloves.
