So we got him resigned before he went to arbitration. Glad to have him back. :)

lol we made a thread at the same time. Sorry about that. Glad he's back now lets get Staal signed... it's starting to worry me a bit.

Get Staal signed and Tell Sather to take the rest of the Summer off.

great news...now Staal!
|
Hopefully Sather is working on Staal's contract now. Maybe he negotiated with Girardi first due to his arbitration rights.

Two years.......I hope.

Well that was quick. I guess Girardi was smart and knows of Sather's wrath if he goes the arbitration route.
Things usually don't end well for players who go to arbitration under Sather's rule. |

I guess he cant walk and chew gum at the same time also. |
Glad to have Danny boy back.
The guy is streaky as they come on the offensive side of the puck, but is solid defensively. Never really have to worry about him. I hope it's something like 3 years, 8.5 million, (2.83 cap hit). It's probably more, hopefully no more than 3.5 mil cap hit. |
Good news.
HOpefully it has some length to the deal and it is CHEAP. Hoping for 4 years and around 3 mill. That would be perfect. Girardi has done a nice job improving each year and you need to take these types of chances on guys in the salary cap world. |

Finally!:handclap: Now get Staal under contract and move on.

which is why i cringed when i read the 2nd bolded part |
I'm personally hoping we can pull of something for Gagne. Only on a 1 year deal, motivated to play extremely well for a new contract.
Would bring some scoring depth to a team that has none. |

We already know that he is having some trouble negotiating a fair price with Staal. He said in another interview that both him and Girardi are parts of our "core" so to speak. When one of your "core" players has arbitration rights and the other one doesn't, it would be pretty safe to assume that a GM would go sign the player who has arbitration rights. Add the fact that Sather is waiting for Staal to lowe his asking price, and it is not as far fetched as you think. Also, how do you know Sather is only negotiating two contracts? For all we know, he could be taking to Kovalchuk, Frolov or any FA for that matter. |
