Wild, Sharks show interest in Modano

ESPN: Wild, Sharks show interest in Modano

That comes days after he met in Detroit with Red Wings personnel.

Modano said Minnesota may want to meet face-to-face with him soon, but no date has been set.

"It would be a fun storyline," Modano said, referring to the fact that he was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1988 and moved with the franchise to Dallas. He played his final game of 2010 in Minnesota, donning an old North Stars jersey as he waved goodbye. "It's the same scenario. I'm listening to what everyone has to say and taking it all in. I still have to decide if I'm going to play."

I thought that this was interesting because a lot of people seem to like the idea of Modano playing again for the city that he was drafted by (yes, not the same team, I know).

Crap

I think we should merge all the modano threads into a single all modano talk thread. I still think the Red Wings are his first choice at the moment, but SJ would be a good situation for him too because of his wife.

While I know this is not exactly on topic, but please do not listen to this guy. He claims to be a writer for the Wild, but he knows nothing about the Wild.

Exhibit A

Quote:

Per capgeek.com, #mnwild have 16 players under contract for next season and have $15,707,223.00 in cap space left to sign the remaining 7

about 23 hours ago via web
Except, if you go to CapGeek.com, the Wild have 23 players under contract, woth the remaining cap space at $3,528,974. There are a few guys not counted for, but enough for a difference of $12million.

So for a guy who claims to be a beat writer for the Wild, he can't even get his fact straight.

r0bert8841 07-09-2010 05:14 PM

hahaha thats interesting but where did he get that quote? he must've actually talked to modano if he is the first person to post that quote.

Please retire Mike.

this same 'writer' pulled the Cullen prediction out his asscanal but even then he had Cullen lumped in with a few other names; basically, any of us could have narrowed down the list of UFA centres and taken a stab... i find some posters here at HFBoards to be considerably more informed than him.

GordonBombay99 07-09-2010 05:20 PM

I like the idea of Modano coming back to Minnesota to finish his career. He would be a great veteran for us to have and could provide some solid depth in that center spot for us and could help out in some ways still.

Rickety Cricket 07-09-2010 05:23 PM

Stay away Sharks.

Sony Eriksson* 07-09-2010 05:27 PM

Ill be ok with Modano in Minnesota!!!!!!!!

Yes, but if you followed Michael Russo, the real Minnesota Wild's beat writer, he was advocating Matt Cullen since trade deadline...

Doesn't seem to much of an accomplishment when the beat writer who did suggest Cullen has been doing all season long...

Same here, it would be awesome if he went back to Minnesota

I'd love to have Modano if it's under 1 million.

Yeah, it would, if you don't live in Minnesota...

JPavs8Clutchy* 07-09-2010 05:38 PM

I call ********. If we get Hjammer, we'll barely have any cap room.

Crumblin Erb Brooks 07-09-2010 05:39 PM

id advise Modano to stay away from wild Sharks

Bryz4shiz 07-09-2010 05:41 PM

It would be sick if he signed with the Wild otherwise he should retire.

Why is it mostly non-Wild fans saying it'd be sick if he signed with us?

bullocks 07-09-2010 05:46 PM

If he plays another year it will be with a winner. Which will take Minnesota out of the equation.

N O T O R I O U S 07-09-2010 05:48 PM

I think he will retire

And the Sharks. Hmm. Back to Detroit!

Vashanesh 07-09-2010 05:52 PM

Just retire.

Those of us who were around when the North Stars left remember your comments, Mike. We don't want you, we don't need you and we'd rather not bother with you.

Please.... Someone else sign him, or someone convince him to retire. I want nothing to do with this guy....

That's cold.

The Wings aren't the only team that cares. We care as well along with the Wild. :D

Sorry. But the person I quoted brought the Wild down and I didn't wanna go down alone.

In your defense, you guys tear it up in the regular season...
