obviously. would you?

No. Replace Brewer, Perron, Boyes with Jackman, McClement and Oshie and I'd add Butler or somebody else to get it done, but besides that, the Sabres can't trade one center for a winger, much less two.

they'd have me listening. Boyes is a former 40 goal scorer. But why the sudden tail off? If he centers Vanek and perron/pominville he could pot 30 I'm guessing.

What is Perrons salary? I dont see it on capgeek..

WhoIsJimBob 07-11-2010 12:03 PM

How about Connolly & Stafford for Backes?

Ron C. 07-11-2010 12:03 PM

Perron is a RFA

TBD

He's an unsigned RFA.

It was $900k on an ELC (I think). He's an RFA now.

ty ty. Hmmm... Roy and Boyes are a wash salary wise. Brewer makes more than Goose. But Stafford may make more than Perron will? Looks like we would be taking on some salary...

Ron Barr 07-11-2010 01:10 PM

I like Boyes and Perron, but I don't think we need those types of players right now. Plus I wouldn't give up Goose that easily. If we're gonna trade with St. Louis, let's go after Backes or Jackman.

JPurp26 07-11-2010 01:35 PM

St. Louis has a lot of good potential players

HockeyH3aven 07-11-2010 02:35 PM

I like it, but are either Boyes or Backes centers? If not then that's a rough deal. I like the value we're getting, but then you've got Connolly, ?, and Nediermayer as our top 3 centers? Ouchies.

Pretty sure Boyes plays Center. So we'd still have a Connolly/Boyes/Neids ,1,2,3 at center. And Ennis can fill in.

Considering Boyes has been under 50% at faceoffs the last 3 seasons (since he started playing center basically, oh and he was 44% last year), center isn't Boyes' forte.

How boot a second line of Boyes - Connoly - Pominville?

Rob Paxon 07-11-2010 04:35 PM

This one will just never happen and shouldn't happen, but it is a good start. These two teams could work out a pretty good deal if they were inclined to.

Kruschiki 07-11-2010 05:46 PM

Lol

The Blues value Oshie as their top prospect just as much as the Sabres value Myers. Forget about getting him in any kind of trade.

I don't think so - he was a winger with both the Bruins and the Blues. He may have taken some faceoffs as a winger (a la Hecht) but I don't think he's ever been a full-time center.

Backes can play center.

This trade doesn't work for St. Louis either. We don't need a center, lead alone two.

How's about tweaking with these guys with 1 year left on their contracts:

To :sabres

Eric Brewer 4.5M / UFA
Patrik Berglund 0.765M / RFA

To :blues

Tim Connolly 4.5M / UFA
Drew Stafford 1.9M / RFA
