New York Rangers Blackberry App

Is anyone else using this on their Blackberry? I have it on my phone and love it... Aside from the official news updates from the organization and the schedule listing, there is a My Feeds sections that allows you to add your own RSS feeds for updates.... I have feeds for Brooks (NY Post), Gross (Record), Cerny, Beyond The Blueshirts (squishy), Prospect Park, as well as several twitter accounts and other associated blogs... It's an extremely convenient way to get updates on Rangers related news on your hand-held device....

Just downloaded the app for my Tour, how do I add the RSS feeds for everyone. Sorry if it's a dumb question, I've just never dealt with RSS feeds before.

No problem... I don't even know how to add RSS feeds to my regular internet browser hahah :)

Scroll up top over to the My Feeds section and hit the Blackberry key (menu)... Select Configure Tab. Then scroll down and click the option or either Add From Search or Add From URL... I usually add by URL but the search feature is pretty handy too... Type in the URL of what you want to add and then click Add Feed and then Save Changes on the next screen.... Articles will automatically update each time you view the My Feeds tab... Here's a list of the ones I'm using:

You of course can add any RSS feed you'd like, Rangers related or not.... If you or any other poster has any other good feeds to recommend, please share....

Where do you see the my feeds section? All I see is news, schedule, and photos. Sorry for the stupidity

That's okay... On the top menu there should be several tabs and if you're not seeing My Feeds either scroll over (horizontally) to the right until you see it or click on that + symbol which should let you configure/customize the tabs listed up top... I may have edited mine a long time ago so I don't recall 100% what it looked like when first installed... I think I deleted some unecessary tabs so right now mine just has:

News / Schedule / Photos / My Feeds

I hit the + symbol and it won't let me do anything. **** it, I give up. I'll just use the browser on the BlackBerry. Thanks for the help though :)

What about Android? We're destroying Apple!

HeaveHo94 07-16-2010 11:56 PM

I've had it for 2 years I think. During the season it sends like 1000 of the same messages.if you don't customize it. The only thing I like about it is the NYR icon I can use on my home screen.

Doesn't seem to work on the Storm very well.

The same App is available for the Iphone and works great. Everything stays in App, not browser launching.

The Dark Passenger 07-17-2010 12:38 PM

I had a blackberry storm for about a year and a half and I had this app (one of the rare apps available on the crappy app world). I hated every second of having a blackberry. I got an android and have never been happier with a phone. Too bad there's no Rangers app though...

Lion Hound 07-17-2010 12:41 PM

I got the IPHONE 3. Where is this app you speak of?

Go to App store, type in "official new york rangers" and it should bring you right to it. There are a few different one just get the one that say official.

Nice.

wolfgaze 07-18-2010 12:34 PM

Not sure about the people having trouble with this application, it works flawlessly on my Blackberry 8900

GregNYR19 07-18-2010 05:40 PM

i was using it and it updated every second and showed the same articles....needless to say i trashed the BB and got a droid so im hoping for an app like the penguins app for my droid but that rangers app for BB was useless

Section311 07-30-2010 04:14 PM

I had this app for the blackberry curve. I just upgraded my phone and now have the Blackberry bold but its saying that this app is not available for my phone. Anyone else have this problem?+

hpNYR 07-30-2010 04:45 PM

I manually added it as a web app to my motorola droid. It comes w the Ranger icon.

Search for 'New York Rangers' on Blackberry App world through your phone....Can't think of why it wouldn't be compatible with your bold....

hpNYR 03-24-2011 04:44 PM

this is now out for android users.

nyr2k2 03-24-2011 05:10 PM

Thanks hp.

App kinda sucks. The post game interviews are the only things I can see that aren't readily available from better sources. The NHL Game Center app is much better, IMO. The full version has live streaming games, as well. Pricey, but if you know where to look you can knock a few bucks off...

Brendan Shanahan 03-24-2011 05:11 PM

I just use NHL Gamecenter.

hpNYR 03-24-2011 05:22 PM

The app itself blows..however the feeds is the good thing. You can add all the the twitter/blog feeds and make a widget on your home screen. Check wolfgaze's post above about this.

this.

my rangers app on my iphone is useless.

hpNYR 03-24-2011 05:36 PM

Need to integrate the feeds for it to be a useful app, otherwise it's garbage.
