Draft Pick Trade Proposal.

To New York:
D Jiri Fischer
1st rounder 05
C Jiri Hudler

To Detroit:
RW Hugh Jessiman
1st rounder 04 (6th)

Dgrohl8 05-25-2004 11:47 AM

Worst thing i have seen in a long time we give away possibly a top power forward in the league and a top 6 pick for jiri fisher and a late 1st round pick next year no way

I won't question the 'fairness' of this trade because that is debatable.
All you need to know is, that this deal is not what the Ranger's are looking for.

We need size upfront, your deal doesn't offer that.
Your deal is Fischer for Jessiman then Hudler/2005 1st for 2004 #6 overall - i think most of us would pass.

At this point we'll take our shot with Jessiman. We drafted him last year, which means unless its a killer offer Sather isnt going to trade him and risk looking like a fool. As for the swap of pick going from 6 to 24-30 would bring us from Olesz or Thelan to a late pick next year, and who knows how the draft will go next year with the CBA. The Rangers don't touch this deal. Hudler doesn't fit the mold, and Fischer hasn't been the same since his injury.

Fletch 05-25-2004 01:37 PM

No interest in a small center...

no interest in the Wings' #1 pick in 2005. No interest in giving up Jessiman for Fischer. No interest giving up this year's #6 overall pick.

vbox81 05-25-2004 01:51 PM

Cup4Wings: This is the 4th (3rd?) ridiculous trade offer you have put on the board. What do you REALLY want from the Rangers, or are you just thinking about trades to pass the time?

Do you have something against the Jiri's?

Rangers_23 05-25-2004 04:05 PM

This is alot more fair than that mind-numbing proposal you dropped on us a couple weeks ago. However, we respectfully decline.

DarthSather99 05-25-2004 06:05 PM

alot better than the propsal than the one a few weeks ago? This is a horrible trade for the Rangers..... I can't imagine one that would have been as bad.

Fisher does NOTHING for the Rangers at this point. Jessiman will be a better pro than Hudler.

Trading this year's #1 at position #6 for a pick next year, even if it was the #6 slot again(which it will NOT be) it is worth less than a #6 today's value by a FAR margin. Yes we have Sather as a GM but he's NOT that stupid, I HOPE!

JUST STOP IT! We are not trading a top six draft pick and one of our top prospects for anything less than a franchise player, or a player with the potential to be one.

haha...i don't post all that much but i felt i needed to thank you for the good laugh.

Son of Steinbrenner 05-25-2004 07:20 PM

if i didn't read your post a few weeks ago i would say this is the worst trade proposal i have ever seen.

No.

Kubera55 05-26-2004 09:17 PM

I like Jiri Fischer, and acquiring more high draft picks in next year's strong draft should be a priority for Sather . . . but that being said, this deal is a huge stinker.

The Rangers add age (giving up an 18 and 20 year-old for a 24, 21, 17 year-old), salary, and losing a huge amount of upside. The biggest problem in the Rangers farm system is a lack of high end prospects, and once again, this is a trade of quality for quantity.

Not going to happen Cups. The Rangers are going to look to consolodate at this, and next year's draft. They're going to look to turn some of those 2nd rounders and middling prospects into another young blue-chip asset.

They are not going to trade away two blue-chip prospects for young role players.

I'd say he wants our first round picks and top prospects for not much return. :)

DarthSather99 05-26-2004 10:18 PM

Don't worry Cups ...you'll get your prospects. The Red Wings are about where the 1996 NY Rangers were ...so you'll have 8-10 years of rebuilding after all those old guys are gone.

I think they got plenty of youth and several good prospects, I think they will avoid the drought that happened to us.
