I'm feeling good about our defensive group. I don't think we need to sign anybody. Yeah, the depth behind the top six guys won't have experience, but really only one at a time should be forced to play top three minutes with any luck on injuries. A top six of Suter, Weber, Klein, Bouillon, Parent, Franson sounds good to me, With the caveat of how will Bouillon handle the minutes and length of season at another year older, and is Parent healthy as well? But I don't mind having a seventh guy be Blum, or Sulzer , instead of a veteran.
If we need someone as an upgrade because people freak at Bouillon as a second pairing guy, well we won't get someone cheap as that type of upgrade. It clearly can't be just any average guy who is available. Bouillon and Klein did play well together last year in my view.
Hopefully Parent and Franson can be a good pairing. That's a question. But at least Parent has some games under his belt and Franson showed promise, despite the knocks on his skating.
