What is it with you people wanting Owen Nolan back?

You can still wear your Nolan jersey to the game if you want, folks. Nobody is going to call you out and start a fight over it.

Sharksfan83 08-03-2010 12:13 PM

Mainly using him because he brings some grit and leadership, suited to playing the third line, but can also chip in the top 6 when needed. Not much else on the market for his price tag that would be suited to that =/

What's not to like about him? He would be a perfect fit on the 3rd line with Couture and McGinn if you ask me.

He's still a good player who brings some things we could use to the table. He's big, mean, can score goals, can still handle the puck well and skate well. He's not a defensive liability, and he can certainly fill in the top-6 when called upon.

Plus he'd probably sign here for a pittance just to finish his career here. It just makes sense if the org does not have some problem with him, which it appears they do.

his $2.75mil asking price probably had a heck of a lot to do with it...

manny is not making that much and i would take manny over owen all day every day (at this point in their career). I doubt he would go from 2.75 to 1 mil in one season.

With the market the way it is, and his age, he's going to have to accept a decent discount. he'd probably be willing to accept a substantial discount for SJ. He owns the damn restaurant down the street and lives there. I could see him going as high as 1.5, and i'd still be ok with that.

Sharksfan83 08-03-2010 01:27 PM

He was 36 when returning to that contract, he's now 38.. I'm sure he doesn't expect 2.75m now, or even above 2m

I'd take that team in a heartbeat.

Eid Ma Clack Shaw 08-03-2010 01:44 PM

If only a Matt Carle would fall from the sky!

triplea112 08-03-2010 01:57 PM

anyone else feel like he'll choose one of those other teams just like modano did? wonder what the suitors are offering him.

5H4RK5 08-03-2010 02:13 PM

He would definitely be welcomed in San Jose. We're in the final four. :D

Kitten Mittons 08-03-2010 02:18 PM

Mitchell - Wallin = the slowest (and the worst) shutdown pair in the league.

Why would they play together?

Mitchell-boyle=great pair

Mafoofoo 08-03-2010 02:30 PM

He's probably gonna stay in Vancouver or sign elsewhere. :/

Kitten Mittons 08-03-2010 02:30 PM

I'm talking about a "shutdown" pair, not a regular one.

Anywho, I wouldn't mind Mitchell - he's not necessarily what we need but he's something; his defensive numbers are fairly good.

I think Mitchell would be paired with Vlasic as a shut-down pair...

fasterthanlight 08-03-2010 02:36 PM

How can he still be considering the nucks? They have 8 NHL d men IIRC.
