Bieksa to Tampa Bay

Just curious what Vancouver fans could realistically expect from Tampa Bay for Kevin Bieksa. I think he would be a solid option to round out the top 4 in TB and I dont think Vancouver would be asking the world for him.

Thoughts?

Nate Thompson + 2nd + 5th

Ballpark. Maybe adjust picks for a cheap depth D-man or solid D prospect.

Peter Griffin 08-03-2010 10:28 PM

Minimal salary in the form of a checking winger/center and picks/prospects is likely what Gillis will be seeking. If the Canucks re-sign Mitchell than Bieksa will most likely have to be dealt.

this sounds like far too much to give up for bieksa to me. bieksa is solid but he is not worth 2 players and a pick.

DingoAteMyBaby 08-03-2010 10:38 PM

A prospect and a pick

In my opinion that's pretty close. (vancouver Fan), I'd be happier if we could do something like

To Van:
Thompson
Mihalik
2nd

To TB:
Bieksa
4th

I dont think TB would be willing to give up a 2nd. I think for picks it would be a 3rd or higher. I have no problem shipping off Thompson and Mihalik though.

don't see why the Canucks would have any interest at all in Thompson.

Seems like just another fringe 4th line forward, who has yet to crack the NHL fulltime... the Canucks are already loaded with such players and chances are that he'd end up on waivers anyways.

What the Canucks need in return are players that are waiver ineligible.. young guys that can play on the farm and be call-ups when needed... or they need established NHLers that will fill full-time roles on their team - which Thompson wouldn't.

Either that, or draft picks.

Don't see much available on the Bolts that helps the Canucks other than a 1st round pick. PASS.

Just give us a 2nd and a 4th.

KeslerKrony 08-03-2010 11:47 PM

What about Matt Lashoff or James Wright? Any info on those prospects.

Honestly a prospect and a pick is totally fine. We can sign whatever 3rd or 4th liner we need to make up for it.

LickTheEnvelope 08-03-2010 11:50 PM

Wright and a 3rd round pick would be fine with me.

NucksFan163 08-03-2010 11:58 PM

Biesksa, 3rd for 1st. Then they sign Arron Asham.:p:

Canuckee 08-04-2010 12:28 AM

price would be a good prospect and a pick. the better the prospect the lower the pick

jd22 08-04-2010 12:49 AM

Simek for Bieksa, straight up.

luongofreak1 08-04-2010 01:02 AM

Just take him, I like the guy but dump Bieksa->sign mitchell

Oroku Saki* 08-04-2010 01:10 AM

I've seen Thompson play quite a bit, you don't want him Canucks fans. Bieksa will command more then a waiver-wire pickup as a starting point.

arsmaster 08-04-2010 01:13 AM

Stamkos???

Honestly though, I dont see these teams being good trading partners.

Canuckee 08-04-2010 01:23 AM

aren't both teams looking for prospects/picks and bottom 6 players?

MISC* 08-04-2010 01:30 AM

Give us a 2nd. We don't want any cash back. Then sign Mitchell. :handclap:

gsharpe 08-04-2010 02:09 AM

Canwe get Wright? Seriously, I think it's a perfect risk/reward type player.

Edit: Straight up. No ones needs to change picks.

oilersfan11 08-04-2010 02:38 AM

I could see a 2nd round pick being enough to send Kevin Bieksa to Tampa.
