Toronto Raptors to play Pre-Season game in Montreal against New York Knicks - Oct 22

Last time they tried it tanked. I wonder how it will go this time around.

No official announcement yet, but Raptors beat writers are pretty sure it's happening.

Even if this is early, I think that to get a success, they would need to advertise it right now! We have some NBA fans here, but enough to buy tickets to fill the Bell?

No advertising? Failure!

deandebean 08-06-2010 11:10 AM

when's the last time a basketball game in Montreal worked?

Em Ancien 08-06-2010 11:12 AM

This should sell out pretty quickly.

Le Tricolore 08-06-2010 11:16 AM

McGrady, Carter, Davis vs Houston, Camby and Sprewell!

This is the last time I watched an NBA game. I assume the teams haven't changed a whole lot.

Fire Brunet* 08-06-2010 11:31 AM

Thats wassuppp

King peZ 08-06-2010 11:31 AM

How come the Article says Oct. 7 possible and you put Oct. 22 on the thread title... Where is the Oct. 22 info? Is that the official date?

Turtleneck Plek 08-06-2010 11:46 AM

If it happens and the tickets aren't too expensive I'll go, even though it's gonna be a battle of teh suck.

I'm not expecting more than 12-13,000 in the Bell Center, and that seems like a very optimistic expectation to me.

PK76 08-06-2010 11:53 AM

If it's on October 22 I'll be there for sure but there's no way I'm missing the Habs opener if it's on Oct. 7. I doubt they'll be stupid enough to put it that day anyway...

Pascal 08-06-2010 11:54 AM

oh.. yay.

Quarantesix 08-06-2010 12:02 PM

whould have go if it was the Lakers or Heat... Knicks vs Raptors meh

RC51 08-06-2010 12:16 PM

the only way i go to this is if the tickets are free and their is NO hockey on tv, no antichambre, no attack a 5, no habs radio show, no Journal de MontreaL I can re-read for the 4th time.

Well L'Attaque a 5 is finished, so you're chances of going to the game are higher.

Turboflex* 08-06-2010 01:23 PM

I'd go if the tickets are cheap since I have never seen a NBA game live, but I wouldnt pay more than 20$ to see a pre-season game.

QcnARF 08-06-2010 01:26 PM

Oh the failure...it's going to be beautiful

tinyzombies 08-06-2010 01:36 PM

I remember watching the New York Jets play the Cleveland Browns at the Big O. Tons of New York fans. Gastineau sacked someone and did the dance and the place went nuts.

Or seeing Rickey Henderson in a Yankees uniform in left field in Montreal. Bizarre.

Gary320 08-06-2010 01:55 PM

I dont care for basketball, the sport bores me. But, if your a NBA fan, living in Montreal.. why wouldn't you go? The tickets will likely be cheap and its a chance to see NBA. A good experience for NBA fans.

we'll see how long ted rogers continues to pump money into a losing franchise. what's the jay avg attendance this year? i'm sure he'll keep the team, it's a centerpiece of the channels tv broadcasts. but at some point the fans want hope. it will be interesting to see what happens if the jays don't win anything for another 10 years. will they have a team that plays in front of 10k people with a perpetual payroll of 50k? or will they be able to consistently compete for the wild card?

edit
Bjays 27th in attendance in MLB and very last road draw. ouch

scottyG 08-06-2010 02:10 PM

Lol this is like sending Columbus and Florida to play an pre-season game in Las Vegas. It's just not appealing, send the celtics,Lakers, etc here and people will go

LyricalLyricist 08-06-2010 02:13 PM

Honestly, I hope it sells out. However, I hope no one cheers the raptors. I know 0 about basketball but **** the raptors.
