Itís been a different training program for me this time,Ē continued Lapierre. ďI have a boxing coach that Iím using, plus Iíve been riding a bike that uses computers to give you all types of useful information. Itís been good.
I'm down. It's about time, too. This minor piece of news made my day.

Belso 08-22-2010 11:06 AM

Didn't he have a boxing coach last year?

Trembs 08-22-2010 11:12 AM

Isn't it illigal to fight unless self desense after taking that type of class? Unless your actually training to be a boxer

I think it is illegal to hit anybody unless it is in self-defense, even if they deserve it.

Haha no:laugh:

It's gym politics, if you fight outside you're not back in, that's just how bad kids like Mike Tyson were able to live an adult life out of prison.

le_sean 08-22-2010 11:33 AM

I guess he understands he has to answer the bell a few more times.

I assume the biking is for endurance. If he plays with Eller I would expect another 15 goal campaign.

Boyd-Eller-Lappierre should be a fantastic 3rd line, no doubt about it. For me it's the 4th line that's turning quite a fiasco..

Yeah he did but it turned out that boxing coach actually showed how to make boxes. That explains why he cant fight.

No but I think you're thinking of O'Byrne, unless I'm mistaking

zurg999 08-22-2010 12:08 PM

He's no doubt doing the program to improve cardio. Thinking he'll 'answer the bell more often' is delusional.

You're right, O'Byrne was the one taking boxing lessons last summer.

Boyd is a natural center as well as Eller. One of them could end up on the 4th line.

Anyway. there is still plenty of guys to fill up a 4th line: Pyatt, Moen, Darche, Maxwell, White, Desharnais, Pacioretty, even Wyman.... No one to really drop the gloves against heavyweights, though. Could be get Riley Cote ?

Kriss E 08-22-2010 12:32 PM

Won't change a thing.

But, we don't have a fourth line yet...

Moen-White-Lapierre is a good 4th line. I'd keep them together with Boyd-Eller-Pyatt on the 3rd.

Yea, like when he got his ass handed to him by Laperriere.

HarlemsFinest 08-22-2010 01:15 PM

that's part of laperriere's job. i actually don't recall that one. but i know O'B had a few other scuffles where he held his own against some oponents who have a bit of edge. he stood up for some guys when i didn't see anyone else doing it, and he took on more physical responsibility after BGL was gone. he didn't redefine the face of heavyweight fighters in the league, but it was good progression for the guy and showed his willingness to adapt and fill in a role. he fought admirably, without embarrassing himself. something to build on if he wants to.

Lapierre having a boxing coach is like me buying tampons. Why have it if it won't be needed?

TankEller* 08-22-2010 01:31 PM

Good news. At some point, he might even challenge Axelsson for a revenge!

:sarcasm:

Seriously, good to know he at least is training to improve his fighting skills. He'll have to take some risks and accept getting some punches though, at some point.

Great news , I predict an all around strong season for Lapierre.

Really? Moen, Pyatt, and Patch would be a fiasco? Or Moen, Pyatt and White?

I think the Habs will have a strong fourth line.
