Patrick O'Sullivan
Ryan Johnson
Lukas Krajicek
Mathieu Schneider
Vesa Toskala
Owen Nolan
Garnet Exelby
Scott Walker
Evgeny Artyukhin - BIG, STRONG, TOUGH, GRITTY AND ANNOYING!
Christoph Schubert

Robert Lang
Marc-Andre Bergeron

Dean McAmmond
Andy Delmore
Steve Begin
Rory Fitzpatrick
Stephane Veilleux
Petteri Nokelainen
Darcy Tucker - Gritty leadership and tough to play against, he was drafted by us and I would love to have him back.

Jed Ortmeyer
Marek Svatos
Wayne Primeau

With 23 guys with one-way contracts, I seriously doubt we'll sign anyone else this summer.

We'll see in camp if something wrong happen to one of our players, but otherwise we're set, and anyway, there's nothing really interesting in that list... and Artyukhin would be more annoying to JM than opposing teams, he may be huge, strong, tough and all, but he plays 1 game out of 20...

What happened to Eric Belanger, wasn't he supposed to sign with the Capitals one month ago?

WestIslander 09-11-2010 08:43 AM

Andreas Lilja
Defense
Height 6.03 -- Weight 230 -- Shoots L

I like Lilja too!

Markov - Gorges
Lilja - Subban
Gill - Spacek

It was only rumors, and they ended up being false.

Arrtyuhin is tough and gritty? Are you serious?????????? :amazed:

Guerin, Gauthier spoke to him before signing Halpern so I assume he wasn't interested or wanted more $$$ than we had available.

Preissing, we have no room for him, he'd basically replace Subban which wouldn't be a good idea.

Tucker, not much left in the tank, and we have bigger guys than him already in place.

But what is that consideration based on? Teams can *always* shed salary. But who would we shed and why? And what would be the ramifications of doing so?

I don't see any player on that list that I would shed salary for. Arguably we might find a depth player like Ryan Johnson, say, who ended up being better than the last one or two players on our roster, or a veteran depth defenseman for the #8 slot who is better than Weber/Picard/Carle. But not by enough to outweight the negative sides of the tradeoff (i.e. camp competition, prospect graduation/development for at least one or two players).

I would just pass at this point. We picked Picard and Halpern off the scrap heap, that basically fills the quota. There are sound reasons why those two were picked and others still on the list weren't.

No cap room, no need. Especially for a guy like Guerin. He's really over the hill. I don't see how he can be useful other than experience and leadership which we have plenty of. I mean, if he had a cap hit of 0 I'd take him but..

Ozymandias 09-11-2010 09:59 AM

Holy crap, Jere Lethinen is still a UFA.... this league is changing.

If we could sign him for very cheap for one season, I wouldn't mind.. .still

HABitual Fan 09-11-2010 10:13 AM

If the guys on the list cannot find NHL jobs, I would consider signing one of the Russian speaking ones to be a friend for Alexander Avtsin in Hamilton. Other then a move like that i don't see anybody i would give an NHL roster spot to at the expense of the guys we have already. An AHL reclamation project maybe, someone like Patrick O'Sullivan would be fine. Another veteran defense for Hamilton also would be a positive step considering who we have there.

Brian McGrattan

Surprised Slava Kozlov hasn't found a job. 76 points two years ago and he's a master at shootouts.

ReVeuF 09-11-2010 11:07 AM

What about Frolov ? Did he signed with the Kings and I missed it ?

He's a Ranger.

Captain Saku 09-11-2010 11:18 AM

I would have preferred Artyukhin over Halpern

AntonCH 09-11-2010 11:29 AM

Nobody on that list excites me

Go with what you have, see how it develops and adjust during the season

A player that signs for 800 k or less is going to make little difference, and retreads need not apply

Svatos, Guerin, O'Sullivan, Calder and Belanger.

Nakamura 09-11-2010 12:09 PM

Nobody.

Gauthier and his staff already did the exercise last week by signing Jeff Halpern.

FF de Mars 09-11-2010 12:14 PM

I was about to say Jere Lehtinen, but the guy is 37...

I'm with the Evgeny Artyukhin HF Habs board's clan. I think the exciting Bell Center might light him up. I'd like it, if we signed him for a year, to try him out. If he becomes a ghost again, so be it. But he is fast and big, even if he doesn't have good awarness, he'd be good on a dump and chase line.

No Team Needed 09-11-2010 12:52 PM

i honestly thought that montreal would have waited the goalie situation out and got theodore to sign cheap. price/theodore would have been interesting.

Aren't you fed up with goalie controversy? Just imagine how it would have been if Theodore came back.

I don't think so.
