Dealing with skate pain
 
I have really wide feet and my current skates aren't wide enough (they've been punched out so much that the stitching is almost breaking :laugh: ). Buying new skates isn't really in the cards right now, because I'd have to get customs which end up being like $500+ and I'm still growing a little so I don't want to dump that much into skates for a year or two.

Normally I can kinda deal with the pain, because half the time I'm on the bench. But I have a tryout tonight and I'm not really looking forward to it... An hour without sitting down is already killing me just thinking about it.

Any tips to deal with the pain guys? :cry:

As I said, I can't get new skates. My skates are already pretty darn wide... My coach last year was bugging me about having them too long as well. They are 7.0E, but with all the stretching I think they ended up being more like EE-EEE.

Well, there isn't much you can get for advice with only an hour before your try out. Local external anesthetic perhaps? Good luck either way.

Well, I was looking for stuff like tips to do while skating to make it hurt less, etc.

Frog stretch to keep off your feet but still look productive.

Theres not much you can do to make your current skates not hurt your feet other than siting on the bench.

Not really sure if its a good tip, but I've seen plenty of players have new skates on them in the sauna...

But a real tip is to not let it get too bad, the pain. Its better to rest, even if its not really possible. I've personally played through camp like situations to win spots on teams, through a helluva lot of pain, to then be forced to rest for weeks to get rid of some real ugly inflations...

if you have time do the same thing with them you would with a mouth guard.
Put them in your oven at home on the lowest temp it can go for just a few minutes.
hot enough that they can be molded... but not hot enough that they burn you.
put them on your feet and let them cool.
they should form to your feet.

if that doesnt help you might need poiny up and to look into wider skates

I have the same problem with my skates. They just around wide enough and it causes excruciating pain about 5 minutes after I hit the ice and takes about 20 minutes for my feet to go numb.
