30 Teams in 30 Days
TSN is doing their annual 30 teams in 30 days, counting down their preseason power rankings from the team they think will finish last in the league to the best team. These aren't amazingly accurate since they had the Coyotes/Avalanche #30/#29 last season, but I think a lot of people did.

Right now, they just did #18 with Colorado.

Where do you think they'll put the Kings? I think they'll be anywhere from #12 to #8.

DIEHARD the King fan 09-16-2010 09:37 AM

I said #8, although even at the ten spot I think they'd be close. Then again that assumes progression, not regression. Cant wait for the season.

Orenji 09-16-2010 09:45 AM

Last year we were #23 for the record.

Telos 09-16-2010 09:58 AM

I think it will be somewhere top 10, but not top 5. 8th sounds reasonable.

onlyalad 09-16-2010 10:08 AM

I picked 12, because lets face it TSN is not reasonable (Sorry Tony)

There's truth in that statement.

jimmy1100 09-16-2010 10:14 AM

I went with 11th. I agree that between 8 and 12 is where we'll end up, so I just picked one between those numbers. No more rhyme or reason to it than that.

tigermask48 09-16-2010 10:27 AM

12th sounds about right... Can't see LA making before any of the following:
Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Montreal, San Jose, Chicago, Washington, Vancouver, and New Jersey. That puts the Kings at 10th at earliest and they will probably sneak a team or two like Buffalo, Nashville, or the Rangers in before the Kings...

Sydor25 09-16-2010 10:29 AM

Kings will be #8 in honor of Doughty! :D

#11 for Kopitar!

Sybil227 09-16-2010 10:44 AM

They were overly pessimistic last year. I'm guessing they'll overcompensate & be overly optimistic this year
So I went #7.

Don't be sorry... TSN's rankings can be a hot mess at times.

Buddy The Elf 09-16-2010 11:32 AM

Numero Uno!

Puck U 09-16-2010 02:26 PM

Well you almost KNOW they'll rank Washington and Pittsburgh 1-2, some Canadian team, most likely Vancouver #3, edit: oops how could I forgot the Hawks at #4, and at least one more East coast team {Philly} ahead of us ... so 6th. It's a science ;)

LaFan1967 09-16-2010 05:36 PM

I see TSN being pretty close to this.

1 Pittsbugh - they'll love the new defense here
2 Washington - President Trophy last year won't fall much
3 Vancouver - hey it's Canada's sport network - gotta have a canadian team here
4 Chicago - Staney Cup winner lost just enought to fall this far
5 Philly - Finalist
6 NJ - Kovy effect
7 San Jose - still an elite team despise the slight downgrade in goal
8 Montreal - building on playoffs
9 Detroit - age will catch up to them some day , just not quite yet
10 Los Angeles - young team grew up a bit last year , ready to take another big step
11 Boston - no flaws here
12 Phoenix - Tippet , enought said
13 Colorado - they have the fowards , need defense to catch up
14 Buffalo
15 NY Rangers
16 St Louis

DeeMeck 09-16-2010 05:53 PM

montreal 8 is a streeeetch

Ollie Weeks 09-16-2010 06:08 PM

They're fantasy oriented, or at least run by the TSN fantasy wizard. So yeah...

Chruceg 09-16-2010 07:03 PM

I think a big point that everybody is missing (except for maybe moses) is that the rankings aren't the opinions of anyone. There is a strict system that designates a numeric value for each player and then totals all the players. The sum total of each team is then ranked. Teams with good defenses and a lot of scoring depth yet lacking in high end talent (ie the Kings, Coyotes, and Predators) are consistently ranked lower. It's almost like the BCS except instead of several computers muddling the information there is just one. The Kings will most likely end up ahead of the 5-8 playoff teams left in the east and might get ahead of St. Louis and Phoenix. This puts them at roughly 10th. I voted twelfth though because the system undervalues LA so much.

I personally think their rating system is a joke. Mostly because it overvalues top end talent and undervalues depth. For example, the west is clearly better than the east one through eight; however, the West number eight seed is behind the East number nine seed? Seriously? This makes no sense.

TonySCV 09-16-2010 07:55 PM

Also keep in mind 10th-12th overall would likely translate to 5-6th in the west. As long as the Kings are among the top 6 teams in the West, I won't cry foul of the initial rankings.

no name 09-16-2010 07:59 PM

I picked 10.

Orenji 09-17-2010 02:34 PM

I say Sandstrom, 7th.

Orenji 09-19-2010 09:16 AM

#14 - Ottawa Senators

Well, I'm guessing the next three are Blues/Us/Coyotes/Bruins in some kind of order.

DeeMeck 09-20-2010 10:57 AM

I don't like the pens...but 13th? Wow. These guys are still a top 6 group, and maybe even top 4.

Paul Martin is going to finally get his due around the league.

Cutty Sarkn3ss* 09-20-2010 11:52 AM

Wow, pens at #13 . . .
