Unpopular Rangers who you liked

Name some Rangers that most fans were not too happy with but you liked. I really enjoyed watching Naslund in a Rangers jersey. I was also a fan of what Malik did in his seasons wearing blue.

Fitzy 09-18-2010 11:21 PM

Petr Nedved, Rozsival, Chris Drury, Kamensky.

TheHotRock 09-18-2010 11:24 PM

i eventually soured on nedved, but it took me a lot longer than everyone else i know. i was definitely the last nedved defender in my circle.

RMcDonagh 09-18-2010 11:29 PM

It's much easier for me to say now that when I speak with my hardcore Ranger fan friends or any extreme hockey heads, when I mention my extreme dislike for Avery, they look at me like I have seven heads.

That's definitely something I feel I'm in the minority with.

Net Front Presence 09-18-2010 11:30 PM

Roszival.

And I don't know how you guys feel about Theo Fleury, but I loved that guy.

KotsyJr 09-18-2010 11:33 PM

Nedved and Fleury (if he was unpopular at the time, don't remember other than the fallout) for me.

SomE 09-18-2010 11:33 PM

I had high hopes for Ales Pisa and Chad Wiseman.. I think I was the only one.

OverTheCap 09-18-2010 11:46 PM

I really liked Russ Courtnall during the 1997 ECF run.

I also remember taking a liking to retreads/failed prospects such as Tim Sweeney, Vladimir Vorobiev, Johan Lindbom, Johan Witehall, and Jan Mertzig.

The late '90s was a scary time to be a Rangers fan.

Edge 09-18-2010 11:47 PM

I'm struggling with this one. Normally I am the jerk who dislikes the players that some like.

This has to be a joke.

Wow, thought I would be the only person that said Nedved.

We should start a closet Nedved fan club.

mike14 09-19-2010 12:26 AM

Bobby Holik , even have his jersey

Radek27 09-19-2010 01:43 AM

Umberger
Purinton
Mara

Some of the more recent one for me.

Barnaby 09-19-2010 01:43 AM

Nedved, De Vries, Brad Brown, Grosek, Fleury, Dvorak, MacLean

CanyonofBlueshirts 09-19-2010 01:53 AM

Theo Fleury and Ryan Hollweg.

Hollweg caught a bad rap, although that one boarding penalty he took against the Pens in the playoffs a few years back was inexcusable. Other than that, the dude was a late round pick who somehow managed to stick in the NHL through nothing but his own hard work and effort. I cant knock that. Kid served his purpose

Dagoon44 09-19-2010 01:56 AM

Colton Orr
Eric Lindros
Don Jackson

n8 09-19-2010 02:16 AM

I liked Kamensky and OC Hatcher up to the point they started playing for us. but I suppose that is cheating. That was the beginning of the Rangers' country club syndrome. :shakehead

thats why hollweg hasnt been on an NHL team now for as much as he was on the Rangers, its either cause of the Rangers lack of depth at the time or the fact that he sucks. never liked his stupidity on the ice but was always willing to defend a teammate. that was his best quality
