Filip Kuba For Ryane Clowe

I know that Filip kuba is injured right now and that Kuba is out for 5-6 weeks.

I was thinking if Kuba is healthy enough and who ever fills in for Kuba while he is out can prove that he can play in the top four and the Senators have alot of defencemen and Sharks need a defencemen I was thinking of a trade for the Senators and the Sharks at the trade deadline.

Clowe for Mr. Injury? PASS!!!

ChompChomp 09-19-2010 02:36 PM

Make it Erik Karlsson. Think that's too much? Well Kuba is too little.

Kitten Mittons 09-19-2010 02:49 PM

Yes, I would love an injured player.

DBS 09-19-2010 03:09 PM

No thanks.

Filip Kuba for Ryane Clowe

I think Clowe is more valuable to our team now than Kuba would be (Injury notwithstanding)

Not saying the value isn't far off but I'd personally decline that.

nix at home 09-19-2010 03:37 PM

Clowe said he's never leaving because he likes how the teal of the jerseys brings out the blue of his eyes.

USF Shark 09-19-2010 04:01 PM

I like Kuba, and always have, but Clowe is too much for him. Something surrounding Mitchell maybe, but not Clowe.

Let's talk near the deadline.

DuckEatinShark 09-19-2010 04:57 PM

Why are we giving up a top 6 player for one that won't play for us in 5-6 weeks?

Even if Kuba wasn't injured I'd be hesitant to pull the trigger.

That's why I say if they want Clowe, they better give up Erik Karlsson. Given the salary disparity, I'd be willing to give them Huskins and a 3rd round pick in addition to Clowe, or simply Clowe + 2nd.

The Nemesis 09-19-2010 05:20 PM

guys, he said "as a deadline deal". In theory the Sharks would be getting a by-then healthy Kuba, not a Kuba who misses games until almost November.

and Chomp, asking for Karlsson in exchange for Clowe is nuts. As a statement of the value disparity between hurt Kuba and Clowe it works, but as an actual trade suggestion, Karlsson is potentially a high-level offensive defenceman who doesn't totally suck at D. Dan Boyle-like really. It'd take more than Clowe + Huskins + a pick.

The Sens aren't going to trade Karlsson. I don't even know why you'd ask. Clowe doesn't help them nearly as much as Karlsson will. Kuba is the one that could be available so I would suggest sticking to what you would do to acquire him. You move Mitchell, Huskins, and a 4th for Kuba and Winchester. And at the deadline, we're talking about a 2nd.

Clowe not Mitchell.

Clowe for Kuba at the trade deadline.

Kuba is not worth Clowe. Now or at the deadline. If the Sens want Clowe, they will need to add. And that assumes that DW is confident enough that someone is ready to replace Clowe.

Then it's not going to happen. The Sharks are not dealing out of their top six unless one of two things happen. One, they get another legitimate #1 d-man. Two, they get a top six replacement back along with a top four d-man.

Since Ottawa doesn't have either to offer, it's not going to happen. Sharks aren't trading off from their one strength unless it stays that way or they create a strength elsewhere by doing so. Clowe for Kuba does not accomplish that.

That deal won't be considered by the Sens.

Anyways. I made a value thread on Kuba not too long ago. McGinn+ seem to generate a lot of positive feedback, but after Kuba's injury ...:dunno:

San Jose has about two spots available on the roster for prospects, maybe one or two more the next season. There's a logjam in Worcester that can barely get enough look to make an impression. They have all their picks in hand, and DW has pointed that out in the media. So, it's pretty safe to assume that prospects and picks will be the bread and butter of any trade now, or later.

Not that something crazy couldn't happen, but that's what logic dictates to me. Sharks will make the playoffs with the current roster, so there's little incentive to deal anyone at the moment.

BigDmitriy 09-19-2010 09:36 PM

We'd take him off your hands now for Mitchell and a 4th if you'd like.

I guess you're right, but the point is if there is any Dman the Sharks should covet from the Sens, and be willing to trade away players/prospects/picks of value for him, it would be Karlsson.

Of course you'd be interested in Karlsson but he's not the only d-man on Ottawa that the Sharks can use. Kuba is definitely someone that could improve the Sharks.

Kuba is a player who i've liked for a long time. I saw a lot of him during his years in Tampa bay. I liked both his ability to jump in the play and move the puck. If I were the sharks brass I would strongly look into the acquisition of kuna and his current injury wouldn't be a big concern because kuna wil still be back in time to play a large chunk of the season. Injuries that happen in the preseason don't cause a big concern.

Tell that to Torrey Mitchell.
