Player name mixups

Are there any players you used to/still do confuse with eachother all the time?

When I was young, like ten, I would always confuse Dale Hawerchuk and Dave Andreychuk

i routinely mix up afinogenov and afenasenkov, no matter which one i mean

Cliff Ronning and Ray Ferraro. Don't ask why...I don't know.
Ray Bourque and Rob Blake. Both D-men and their names sound sort of similar.
There was one more but I can't remember it right now.

The Sutter brothers. Brian, Duane, Darryl, Brent, Rich and Ron.

I got one of their autographs years ago, but unfortunately I do not remember which one it was. I think I have it narrowed down to Brian and Darryl though. :joker:

My friends dad gets most peoples names wrong or else calls them somone else. It's hilarious. If our one other friend is there we have to try pretty hard to hold in the laughter. Some hilights.....Belfour=Ballford...Kiprussoff=Kypreos .....Chara=Churla.....Rem Murray=Trent Murray(my favorite)...Marchant=Marchment(and vice versa).....and the list goes on.

When Mark Recchi, Mike Ricci and Joe Reekie were all in the NHL, that was always fun for the announcers. Or how about Shayne Corson, Jimmy Carson and Reed Larson?

But the one I loved was the recent Oleg Kvasha-Alexei Yashin-Arron Asham line for the Islanders last season. Bonus salary should go to the announcers for getting those straight!

Oh, and last but not least ANY name that Gary Thorne THINKS he sees the number for, but is wrong. How many times is he going to just blurt out a name of a player who's either A) on the bench at the time, or B) shoots right when the player with the puck shoots left??? Oh, if I had a dollar...

Even better, during the 1992-93 season Doug Gilmour, Todd Gill, and Bob McGill all suited up for the Leafs at the same time.

Todd Marchant and Bryan Marchment.

Funny thing happened a couple of years ago. Marchment got a suspensions and ESPN had Marchant had the suspension. :dunno:
