How are sleds propelled?
 
May sound like a dumb question, but I've never been able to see one of these sled games just still photos of it. Does anyone know how they propel the sleds on the ice?

My guess would be by hand, but I don't see how the gloves would get enough friction on the ice to move the sled very much.

The butt ends of the small sticks they play with have something on them that allow them to use the ends of the sticks to push off with.

Yeah, it's a metal attachment on the butt end with a number of small teeth.

So then it's used like an oar in a kayak. I wonder how fast they get those things up to.

Yup, it's kind of like the toe pick that figure skates have.
