Canucks will move Bieksa ASAP

Darren Dreger was on TSN during the Leafs Rangers intermission and was quoted saying -

"As soon as the Canucks can move Bieksa- THEY WILL"

He also said that a few Montreal scouts have been travelling and watching all the Canuck games home and away.

Another rumor floating around is a possible trade with the Flyers involving Jeff Carter, Cody Hodgson and Kevin Bieksa

Im assuming that when Dreger says " As soon as the Canucks can move Bieksa" he means when Ballard and Hamhuis return after this weekend. This fits true to what Gillis has been saying that he is going to give the Canucks 10 games before he decided changes if any are neccessary.

Tiranis 10-21-2010 10:19 PM

Source of the Carter rumour? Sounds dubious at best...

Pyke* 10-21-2010 10:20 PM

What does Vancovuer want for him?

HemskyToHall* 10-21-2010 10:20 PM

Yes because Philadelphia needs another overpaid underachieving defenseman.

BC Ben 10-21-2010 10:26 PM

As a Canucks fan, Bieksa is a frustrating MoFo and I cannot wait to be rid of him.

I stated last night that he should be moved to the front and be a mediocre forward rather than stay on the blue line and be a brutal defenseman.

Good riddance and I hope Gillis can pull off some magic and get a top player - if its Carter, I don't mind moving Hodgson in the deal...

massivegoonery 10-21-2010 10:27 PM

I thought he was pretty good against the Hawks.

Im pretty sure a core of Giroux, JVR and Hodgson will be enticing enough

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's a really great guy, but he's not cut out to be a winner. Too many mistakes, he's at his best when he is pissed off. (Pro-tip: He's almost never pissed off.) I don't see how the Carter rumour makes any sense. I don't see us moving Hodgson and Carter doesn't work with our cap and Kesler is our 2C.

Likely Bieksa + for picks and prospects.

AirMinivan 10-21-2010 10:30 PM

Rumored trade not only makes 0 sense as far as team needs go, it also would be impossible cap wise for Vancouver.

He isnt terrible, he has good speed, physical and good first pass...

however his positioning and tendencies to turn the puck over has made him dispensable in Vancouver especially with the signings of Ballard and Hamhuis and the future with Kevin Connautton, Yann Sauve, Peter Andersson, Chris Tanev,

The Overseer* 10-21-2010 10:32 PM

Dreger wrote an article that was negative about the Canucks or one of their players??? Seriously???

It's almost as if his cousin and #1 inside source used to work for the Canucks and got fired by them and now he's grinding the axe for him by writing articles that are negative toward or disruptive to the Canucks all the time or something. Imagine if that happened.

Oh, wait. It did.

You would most likely be incorrect in that assumption. Canucks can fit Bieksa into their roster because Salo is out with his Achilles injury and they don't have a definite timetable for his return. When Salo is ready to return, that's when the Canucks will move him.

As much as he has struggled, moving him leaves the team with Hamhuis, Ballard, Edler, Erhoff, Alberts, and Rome as their top 6 dmen until Salo returns. Parent is the first to get called up. Nucks always seem to have multiple injuries to the backend at the same time each season, so they will ride out the depth until they have to make a cap move.

I came away with the opposite view

Bieksa was terrible

Tiranis 10-21-2010 10:34 PM

Still waiting to see the source of that "rumor"... if there's no source, perhaps it's time to remove it from the OP?

Blind Gardien 10-21-2010 10:34 PM

Habs don't make sense for Bieksa... we have a little cap room, but not $3.75M... not without moving Spacek or Hamrlik, anyway, and obviously those aren't players the Canucks would want back, it would be a total cap non-starter. Habs have 8D as it is.

can anyone validate it for me, I saw and heard it on TSN during the Leafs and Rangers intermission

Oh, wait. It did.

It's a nice departure from the rest of the TSN crew, who appear to delight in slobbering the Canucks' knobs at every possible opportunity.

Bieksa is utter garbage. I don't see how he's an upgrade on any of the d-men in Montreal's lineup, and we don't have a good blueline.

Bieksa....and Hodgson.........for Jeff ****ing Carter.......:help:

Talking about Jeff Carter here, not the rest of it. Dreger did say what you posted.

Cap doesn't work anyway. We would have to add Raymond or Samuelsson or somebody else who's worth around 2-2.5m to make it work for this season with Salo returning.

Of course, Carter is the player I have wanted on this team since... uhhh... 2003? And we have room to re-sign him too.

Reverend Mayhem 10-21-2010 10:44 PM

I think if Canucks got Carter, it would destroy our chances of re-signing Ehrhoff, who could easily get Hamhuis/Martin money on the free market. But Carter's versatility makes me drool...

hey just sayin...

You basically have to move either Sammy or Raymond to fit in Carter (when Salo comes back, that is). If that happens, we have enough room for both Carter and Ehrhoff next season.

Of course, if Hodgson is involved, I can't imagine us also adding Raymond... and on the whole, still haven't seen the source of this supposed "rumor". Sounds like ********.

What are the Flyers going to do with another overpaid defenceman, seriously?

It would certainly be interesting to see how that would work. I think you would move Samuelsson of the two. I wonder where Burr falls into place in all of this. Interesting rumour, but I don't see it happening.

KDizzle 10-21-2010 10:51 PM

Can anybody confirm if this is true? That Dreger said this during the Leafs/Rangers game?

I take everything carl weezer says with a huge block of salt.
