Dreger reporting that Bieksa will be traded / Montreal scouting for D

As per TSN and Darren Dreger, Bieksa will be moved a.s.a.p.

Apparently Montreal scouts have been watching Vancouver games regularly!

PLEASE TRADE FOR BIEKSA!!!

I want to see...

Markov - Bieksa
Hamrlik - Subban
Gill - Gorges
Picard

I don't care for Spacek and O'Byrne

Marc Bergevins Suit 10-22-2010 05:52 AM

Hes a bit overrated, but i he does have a decent offensive game and will bring some toughness. I have no prob with Bieksa in Montreal.

King Woodballs 10-22-2010 05:54 AM

Trade him for?
Someone with a high cap it, or no go.

One Man Rock Band 10-22-2010 05:55 AM

Basically a new younger Souray.

shutehinside 10-22-2010 05:56 AM

I like Bieksa a lot. Hopefully PG does too.

Tuggy 10-22-2010 06:03 AM

Defense needs a major overhaul. Hamrlik and Spacek look about 100 years old out there. Time for Roman to hang em up. 18 year career is great but he's really struggling out there.

Except Bieksa's shot doesnt come near souray...otherwise, its a fairly apt comparison. He's a guy who sticks up for his teammates and plays very gritty, but he also has some huge brain cramps which leave you scratching your head. I figure that the canucks cannot take much salary in return, but the habs dont have a whole lot of room either, so it gets a little fuzzy.

The guy just hasn't been the same since his Achilles (or was it his calf?) got sliced.

PunkinDrublic* 10-22-2010 06:04 AM

How about trading for some scoring power, holy crap we looked terrible last night !

You may be right but Hammer needs some more time before we start jumping to conclusions.

Hamrlik looked fine, he's played well for a guy that's missed all of camp. Sapcek and Gorges were awful last night. Gorges was to blame on the 1st goal and had numerous giveaways, Spacek is too hesitant out there.

Why does Vancouver want to trade Bieksa? Is it cap room, another D or a forward? I could see a swap maybe Spacek for Bieksa. Both players are struggling for their respective teams and have similar salaries although Spacek has a another year.

Mostly because of cap issues. Signing Ballard and Hamhuis while only losing Mitchell in the off season makes bieksa and his salary expendable.

So the canucks definitely wont be interested in spacek. Something like O'Byrne and a pick could work but I'm not sure if that works with montreal's cap. Anyways, OB goes back to his home province, and could use a change of scenery to rejuvenate his career. I think OB is the kind of player that Gillis likes, and obviously, the cap hit is alot smaller. The draft pick would probably have to be no less than a 3rd imo.

Then again, this leaves the question as to who sits when markov comes back.

Garry Valk 10-22-2010 06:24 AM

He'd be a GREAT addition.

Vasculio 10-22-2010 06:29 AM

They can't really take a big salary, and we can't either... and they probably wouldn't want a D in return, since they'll trade Bieksa to make room for Salo's return... but damn Spacek would look great in a 'nucks uniform :sarcasm:

JayBee* 10-22-2010 06:41 AM

need a top6 forward but i'd take Bieksa

Maybe their needs have changed. I didn't think Salo was due back until close to the end of the season and Ballard is listed out indefinitely with a concussion.

Gauthier and Carrière were in Hamilton lately.....I'm expecting a prospect to leave à la Weber, Carle, Maxwell and even Pacioretty. It's not always who you want to go....it is sometimes who they ask for....

Maybe it's more then a 1 for 1 deal. Bieksa + forward for cheap D + hamilton forward prospect + perhaps a pick?

Habs 4 Life 10-22-2010 07:19 AM

Gauthier better not do anything stupid,Bieksa isn't that bad of a player but I know the Canucks wanted Tinordi at the draft,he better not get screwed in this deal

Maxpac 10-22-2010 07:22 AM

How bout...

Pouliot, O'Byrne and Pacioretty (I know my name is Maxpac) for Bieksa and Burrows?

With Hall Gill and Roman Hamrlik at their last year of contract,i don't think Gauthier is that dumb

Kebekoi 10-22-2010 07:24 AM

OB and a 2nd? :)

The Canucks won't trade Burrows for a prospect. They need talent right now, not in 5 years.
