Simmonds out with a "lower-body injury"

The bug is biting :help:

Quote:

Wayne Simmonds declined to comment to reporters after the game. Terry Murray would not elaborate on the nature of Simmonds’ “lower-body injury” or Simmonds’ short-term prospects for playing, but said the injury took place late in the second period after a hit by Dallas’ Matt Niskanen.

Simmonds left the game against Dallas after playing one shift at the beginning of the third period.

UPDATE: Simmonds will play tonight against New Jersey: http://lakingsinsider.com/2010/10/30...ds-ok-to-play/

Looks to me like bruised or broken ribs. :(

Trevor Lewis needs to step it up now.

Can Lokti or Lewis play RW? If he is gonna be out for awhile, I say cue Oscar Moller. Anyone know how he is playing at Manch?

Edit: Checked on Oscar, he apparently is injured with concussion like symptoms. We may see Patey Harrold as a forward.

Fishhead 10-29-2010 02:29 AM

Clifford's best shifts were when he was with Handzus. He was hitting anything and everything, I say just plug him in on that line and see how it goes for a couple games. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and Wayne will be back in a few games.

Or, put Loktionov back up with Kopitar and do something like Schenn-Richardson-whoever. I doubt there will be a call-up unless Wayne goes on the IR or looks like it's headed that way.

I completely agree that Clifford looked his best when out there with Handzus, but I don't think he's ready for the responsibility that comes with that right wing position. He'll get eaten alive against other teams' top lines. I'd say go with Richardson in that slot while Simmonds is out, and then reshuffle the rest as needed.

Loktionov-Kopitar-Brown
Smyth-Stoll-Williams
Ponikarovsky-Handzus-Richardson
Clifford-Schenn-Westgarth

No problems over here.

Wayne Simmonds

Fixed :P

Cook24 10-29-2010 05:08 AM

Enter Scott Parse...just in time...should be in the lineup any day now.

Parse/Richardson-Kopitar-Brown
Smyth-Stoll-Williams
Poni-Handzus-Richardson/Parse
Clifford-Lokti/Schenn-Westgarth

kingsholygrail 10-29-2010 05:21 AM

Laaaame. :(

BigBrown 10-29-2010 06:13 AM

Ponikarovsky-Handzus-Clifford
Richardson-Lewis-Westgarth

If Clifford can't keep up:
Ponikarovsky-Handzus-Lewis
Clifford-Richardson-Westgarth

If Lewis can't keep up:
Ponikarovsky-Handzus-Richardson
Clifford-Lewis-Westgarth

Gives us lots of options. Not that any of them are ideal.

So long as he isn't pregnant...I'm fine with it... Just get well Wayne...

How about this?

Loktionov-Kopitar-Richardson/Williams
Smyth-Stoll-Williams/Richardson
Poni-Handzus-Clifford
Parse-Schenn-Brwon

We can run 4 lines.

KopitarFAN 10-29-2010 11:58 AM

I don't imagine it's that serious if they let him go out for one more shift.

riznat 10-29-2010 12:01 PM

Gotta be bruised or broken ribs, it looked like he took a little cross check under the chest protecter and into his ribs.

Must not be that bad if he will skate tomorrow and hasn't been ruled out for tomorrow yet.

SLang 10-29-2010 05:55 PM

Makes no sense to play either Simmonds or Doughty tomorrow when the next game is Thursday and gives them that much more time to recover. I think the Kings can give NJ a solid run without them.

Maybe he got a "stinger" of some sort.

Wayne Simmonds is scheduled to be in the lineup tonight. Both Simmonds and Terry Murray said Simmonds suffered a bruise, and nothing more serious, and that Simmonds would be able to play.
