Ranger Roller-coaster (Captain obvious journalism warning)

...consistency is not a term that necessarily goes hand-in-hand with this hockey club.

The Rangers apparently do not have the ability to play with a 100 percent effort on a nightly basis. For example, they earned a hard fought win against the Devils last Sunday, but then came out completely flat against the Atlanta Thrashers on Wednesday.

...the Rangers have no one to blame but themselves for their inconsistent play.
Someone out there might find this an interesting read I suppose.

Couldn't disagree more with this article. This is the most consistent game-to-game effort I've seen from the Rangers in a long time.

Yes, the game against the Thrashers was a bit of a stinker, but they didn't lay back and die after going down 5-2 and fought to make it a 1-goal deficit.

Even when they were getting pinned in their own zone against the Leafs, the Rangers took the body and blocked shots. That's hard work right there.

The writer seems to be confusing a lack of talent for lack of effort. This is a far cry from the teams of years past that featured players such as Redden, Kotalik, Jokinen, etc. who floated around, didn't backcheck, and often appeared like they were taking shifts off.
