Top 10 danglers in the NHL?

If there is a lot of disagreement, might do a series of polls

1. Datsyuk
2. Malkin
3. Nash
4. Malik:sarcasm:
5. H. Sedin
6. Hemsky
7. Kopitar
8. Crosby
9. Kane
10. Wideman:sarcasm:

The Sedins are not danglers. Not even close. Dangling is probably one of the weakest aspects of their game.

Elever 11-06-2010 05:09 PM

He's not a star player or anything but I'd vote for Leino. Also, Duchene is gonna be up there.

Kessel tries that move where he cuts-in a lot but usually fails.

Good call on Duchene!

Screw H. Sedin, I should have put Duchene!

Needs more Ovechkin.

Kessel can dangle with the best of them.

HFKessSnipes* 11-06-2010 05:16 PM

By the way, my list was very quickly put together, I was hoping it would just get the ball rolling so more people would post theirs! Sp please do

Shaun 11-06-2010 05:16 PM

Even though he isn't in the NHL anymore my vote goes to Jagr.

JeffMangum 11-06-2010 05:17 PM

Datsyuk, Connolly, St. Louis, and Semin. Don't feel like making a list.

Raym11 11-06-2010 05:18 PM

kessel should definitely not be on this list, is it a list of people who can actually dangle successfully at a high rate? or people who do it all the time and get the odd 1 to actually work with low success?

CS 11-06-2010 05:19 PM

Giroux should get some representation.

Someone mentioned Leino, but even Leino is a tier below Giroux.

LOL no he can't. His only dangle is that outside-inside move, and even then he barely ever does it. His game is basically skating down and sniping. Works for him, but don't try to tell me he can dangle with the best of them.

wubwubwubwub 11-06-2010 05:19 PM

I'm just gonna name a bunch of players...

Datsyuk (he's #1), Nash, Kane, Havlat, Malkin, Gaborik, Whitney, Hemsky, Kovalev, Giroux, Connolly

MeowLeafs 11-06-2010 05:20 PM

Datsyuk is not even close to being top 10

Giroux can be sick.

Nice pick.

Nah, Gabby isn't really a dangler at all. He's just a one-shot-score guy.

Juice* 11-06-2010 05:24 PM

Not gonna make a list but:

Datsyuk, Giroux, Connolly, Ovechkin, Duchene, Hemsky, Semin, Nash, Kovalev, Huselius, Krejci. And I'm sure I'm forgetting alot of people.

I hesitated putting him on the list, I haven't really seen much of him over his career but I for some reason thought he was a pretty good dangler.

He's got elite stickhandling at high speeds, doesn't he? He's pretty good in shootouts. Yeah, he does the outside inside move and he gets it to work. Does that mean it shouldn't count?

Just because a player *doesn't* dangle all the time doesn't mean they aren't amongst the best. You'll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't think Alex Kovalev is one of the greatest stickhandlers the game ever had, but he wasn't always deking through defenders.

Not sure about these two.

Willard 11-06-2010 05:33 PM

Kopitar has to be on the list. He has the extra-long wingspan & knows how to use it.

A huge part of being considered a good dangler is creativity. You can't keep doing one move and expect to be considered a great dangler, whether it's successful or not (and it's not as successful as I think you believe it is). And shootouts and dangling aren't the same thing...
