OT- Euro 2004 Italy vs. Denmark

Any football (soccer) fans here?

My team Italy is playing today, big game vs. a good Denmark team, I'm at work all day, I was wondering if anyone was going to be watching the game? and if they can update any scores or news from the game on this thread?

I know this is a hockey forum, even more so, a Habs fan forum, but it's pretty dead right now in the world of hockey, so it would be greatly appreciated...

I expect a big game by Alessandro Del piero, he's my favorite player and he needs to redeem himself for the last Euro in which he missed to great opportunities to put away France who went on to win :madfire:

P.S.-Damn Zidane is good!

I watched that game, and I came away with a greater respect for Zinedine Zidane, I myself, before the tournament started, told everyone that Fransesco Totti or Ronaldinho are the best players in the world today, as I thought that Zidane had a dissapointing year in Real Madrid...but i've changed my mind, what a player! he plays the game beautifully

Thanks...tough loss, 2 goals in injury time...England didn't deserve to win

Watch out Thierry Henry for the rest of the tournament...He's fantastic!!! That guy can play...

prabak11 06-14-2004 10:50 AM

denmark wins 2-1 my prediction

Dutchy 06-14-2004 10:55 AM

I'm half italian, half dutch but my clear favorite are the Oranje.

Still, 3-0 Italy (Totti with a couple).

He is indeed a great player, and he's so fast, I have a feeling however, that he'll have a dissapointing tournament...

Go Canada GO!

Wait, is there even a Canadian Soccer team?

Natural Habs Fan 06-14-2004 11:51 AM

According to the stats Denmark is doing better

Denmark - Italy

3 Shots on Target 2
7 Total Shots 4
8 Fouls committed 10
6 Corners 3
61% Ball possession 39%

I'm upset because I can't watch the game live :(

Go Italy Go!

Rahan 06-14-2004 11:54 AM

Wow, Denmark's goalie is on fire. Two HUUUUUUGE saves in a row. That was awesome.

Borring game? This is like the second best game of the Euro yet. The Danes are looking very solid, nice team play, not much fouls..Italians are sleeping.

Very nice game so far!

From the Euro2004 site:

An exciting end to a goalless first-half as Italy come alive in the final minutes. Only the brilliance of S°rensen in the Denmark goal can keep out close range shots, one straight after the other, from Del Piero then Totti after 40 minutes dominated by Denmark. With Rommedahl and J°rgensen stretching Italy on the flanks and Helveg looking to come forward at every opportunity Italy had been largely pressed back in their own half, as Denmark called the shots.

denmark is the better team atm (54 min)
only the danish fans make some noise...seems that italy takes the "danish dynamite" way too easy!

[nixloose] Christoph 06-14-2004 12:16 PM

header by Vieri and great save by S÷rensen --> corner

corner --> panucci (sp) doesn't bring the ball on goal

417 06-14-2004 12:20 PM

According to numerous websites, the Danes are controlling th midefield, I hope the Italy coach subs Zanetti and Perrotta for Pirlo and Gattusso, Italy 3 forwards aren't getting any through balls from the midfield

Italy makes changes a player:

Cassano in
Del Pierro out

Trapattoni prepares another change (67 min):

[nixloose] Christoph 06-14-2004 12:28 PM

69 min: Danemark makes a change:

Ebbe Sand out
Claus Jensen in

[nixloose] Christoph 06-14-2004 12:31 PM

72 min Danemark makes a change:
