Chesnokov interviews Bobrovsky

A fantastic read:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puc...urn=nhl-284134

I absolutely am astonished with Bob's dedication. There is nothing NOT to like about this kid.

SeanVT395 11-10-2010 11:15 AM

In Bob we trust.

Seriously, the more I read about this guy, the more I like him. I love his mentality and personality.

HoverCarle* 11-10-2010 11:25 AM

His attitude is amazing. He is so humble and concentrated.

I'm so glad we got him.

Garbage Goal 11-10-2010 11:27 AM

He has, by far, the best personality and mentality I've heard a player have in a long time.

CanadianFlyer88 11-10-2010 11:33 AM

His maturity is astounding.

chaosof99* 11-10-2010 11:36 AM

This is the 2nd reason to love Bob. He doesn't do just all the right things in the crease, he also says all the right things in the locker room.

He probably actually also believes what he is saying. It's a largely NA phenomenon that pro athletes are expected to give boring, canned responses to questions.

L-train* 11-10-2010 11:42 AM

Kid is awesome.

phantomphan 11-10-2010 11:43 AM

In all honesty, the best way to concentrate on your work is to not be able to be distracted. When you can't just flip on the TV or go to a movie because you don't know the language, you tend to focus more on yourself. It might be a bit of an advantage to him off the ice for a while.

dbr2 11-10-2010 11:54 AM

Nevermind.

This kid is awesome.

I didn't mean to make it sound like he's just saying it for show, but there wasn't really any other way to express my thought. I do believe that these are his sincere thoughts, and that is a very good thing.

agrudez* 11-10-2010 12:08 PM

So, since no one has asked the obvious question yet I suppose I will.

Anyone have pics of Bob's girlfriend?

I agree with both of you. His demeanor and poise are uncanny.

Spongolium* 11-10-2010 12:48 PM

This guy is 100% class. All i want from him by the end of the season is for him to keep plugging away, and to learn enough english to get by in the city and on the rink.

FreshPerspective 11-10-2010 12:52 PM

How funny would it be if Bob's responses were actually interpreted to sound much more mature and grounded than they are....

The Flyers PR department and Lukko hire intepreters for Bob to make him sound better or they go by this prepared script. Zherdev breaks his silence with the media and has a bottle of Vodka with Panaccio and reveals what Bob has been truly saying in his interviews....

Anybody want to provide a script?

But seriously, I like how Bob thinks....he's definitely got the character, fortitude, dedication and skill to be very successful in the league for a long time and it seems his teammates agree :yo:

sobrien 11-10-2010 01:11 PM

I like his answer about Crosby coming in on him in game 1, and he just brushed it off as if it were just another player :handclap:

Who says that it isn't?

MsWoof 11-10-2010 01:58 PM

The guy will probably take English classes over the Christmas break and be teaching English to all new players by the summer. He is awesome.

Loved the comment about how he talks to his defencemen and then realizes they don't understand a word he says! I think that's how my dogs and cats look at me when I talk to them!

TheTaekster 11-10-2010 02:06 PM

I love this kid. So ****ing much

might2mash 11-10-2010 02:31 PM

Hah, I just saw what ZWR shirt store came up with for Bobrovsky.

I am not really surprised by this interview.

What I meant to say is that even at 22 years old, I still find Sponge Bob funny. I think I actually like it more now than I did when I was younger.

Happens ALL, ALLLL, ALLLLLLLL the time in boxing with foreign fighters. After a fight a fighter of course will not be all together and uh...'mature' and will say something that would make Mike Tyson blush only for the translator to say something like '...And that's how hydrogen gas was first produced in the 15th century! Now let's talk astrophysics, shall we Jon? My fast intellect is growing quite weary as we stand here talking about this primal fisticuffs business'.

Is it happening here, no clue, but I don't think so as his demeanor and phrasing and such has been quite consistent from interview to interview. Like Kak said, not really surprised by the interview, he has shown to be a very mature mind in the past.
