Roller a good substitue ?
I wanna play ice hockey but their are no ice hockey rinks nearby only roller. Would I be getting enough of a performance improvement for ice hockey by playing roller? Obviously no substitute is as good as the original but for someone who wants to practice and improve would roller hockey work?

Much better to play roller than do nothing. Go for it.

Stick handling and basic stride is the same. It's a good workout that is as close to ice hockey as it gets. The biggest difference is in skating technique for stuff like stops, transitions, etc.

If I was in the same boat, I'd play roller.

I can't think of better way to train for ice hockey than by playing roller. It's great for conditioning and general hockey skill building. Your edges obviously aren't the same, but it won't mess you up too bad. I wrote a full article about it here
