Glencross Fined, Not Suspended

Quote:

Curtis Glencross of the Calgary Flames has been fined but not suspended for his cross-check to the face of Vancouver Canucks' defenceman Keith Ballard on Wednesday night.

Glencross, who received a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play, had a disciplinary hearing with league officials on Friday.

Great news that he didn't get suspended, even though he probably should have been. I don't understand why Jokinen got suspended, but Glencross (being a repeat offender) doesn't, but I'm not complaining.

I believe that because it was more than a year ago it had no weight on the decision. The league beleive that 5 and a game was punishment enough as the team suffered on the ice because of his actions.

The Glencross crosscheck looked more unintentional and defensive then Jokinen's, which was clearly a crosscheck with malicious intent.

I think the league made the right decision here.

This surprised me, although as stated jokinen's crosscheck was more intentional and alot more on the "intent to injure" side

cbjerrisgaard 12-03-2010 01:42 PM

Exactly what I thought would happen.

IE - I'd be mind blown by Colies inconsistent "wheel of punishment"

He basically landed close to a 30 game suspension, but fluked out and the little card clicked over to "fine".

00 is get out of jail free.

What was more than a year ago?

A cross-check to the face is still a cross-check to the face, regardless of how you spin it. I highly doubt Jokinen had any intension of injuring Wolski either, as he's not a dirty player. But he still got a suspension for it.

Like I said, I'm glad Glencross didn't get suspended though.

Kind of surprised he didn't get at least a game.
Maybe it was due to the fact it was reactionary, whereas Olli's was coming as 3rd man in.

So I guess this means no Kotalik tonight?

The TSN panel is going to be furious!! Bob Makenize was calling for 3 games, maybe 4.

They are furious and over react about everything if they do not think of it first... herd of talking heads.
