If you were buying a Flyers jersey...
 

Hi guys,

Always loved the Flyers since you got Richards and Carter (watched those boys play for Canada in the World Juniors); anyways... I've finally given up believing in Flames' management, and it's been very painful watching my team in action this year.

For the purposes of playoff hockey, I want to be able to rock a jersey, and I think it's pretty obvious at this point that I won't be wearing a red one. So I'm going to my #2 team and jumping on the Philly bandwagon...

Was just curious what the Flyers fans thought? I'm torn b/w Giroux, Richards, Pronger, & Carter.

Personally since I don't own a Richards jersey yet (Primeau, Gagne, Recchi) I think i'd go with a Richards one.

Pronger would be solid as well. Carter, not so much for me...

Giroux would be for the sexy pick ;)

Those are all great choices. I personally have a Giroux jersey, and sometime in the next decade I'll be getting Carter and Richards jerseys.

Giroux is great, but Richards is the face of this team.

out of your four .... NONE.... i got my pronger jersey when he signed with the team... i got richies when he got captaincy.. got a giroux when he chose 28... got carter for the hell of it... they are all too popular... i havent worn any of them 4 to games because they don't stand out... I like to stand out with my jerseys... be a stand out go with Leino or Nodl.... trust me!

I was literally just about to post the same thing, I love getting jerseys for less known players. I'll be getting a Betts jersey in the near future.

If its your first and only Flyers jersey and you will be wearing it in Calgary, I'd recommend a long term player. Those if us who are local and can browse for Flyers deals, and get jerseys customized easily can afford to get lesser known players.

I'd go with Richards, Pronger, or Carter, just so you can toss a letter on the front. Although Giroux is pretty awesome.

It isn't hating... Some of us just don't have several hundred dollars to blow on a jersey for a player that may be gone next year.

I'm going to agree with this sentiment. As much as standing out by having a jersey with an underrated/obscure player's name on it's back is cool, I'd still opt for one that has a name of someone that I know will be around for a while.

I remember back in Christmas of '99 I asked for a jersey of a Flyer I didn't have yet as a gift. I gave a list of players names that I'd like to be on said jersey and my mom picked up a Brind'Amour one. He was gone to Carolina 2 months later. She felt worse about it than I did. I also got a gift last September from my father and his girlfriend in return for some favors I did, it was a Cliff Lee jersey. I still wear both of them with pride, but I sometimes feel like it would've been nice if I had them a little longer before seeing them on the On-Sale rack in sporting goods stores.

That being said, who knows how much of Prongs contract he will be around for as he's up there in age and although isn't injury prone, he's had a few. Unless there's some blockbuster deal, Richards and Carter will be factors here for years to come, whereas Giroux's contract is comparatively shorter. Still I don't think the Flyers would let him go, that is why I'm leaning towards Giroux for my answer.

I bought a Richards when the new Reeboks came in... and a Carter when the retro orange started... and a Pronger when the Winter Classics came out and Pronger became a Flyer... All signed for long term now.

But as we speak -- type? -- I have a Giroux in the shop being customised... and he is here for at least the next four seasons including this one (unless God forbid he is traded)... so I voted for Giroux.

But I do agree with the long term players... to maximize their use -- I wear them to games and almost always wear current players except for special occasions -- I believe you are good with any of those four though.

But here's a thought for you... Being that you liked Richards with Team Canada, and you will be sporting it from afar, why not rock the captain and face of the Flyers; Richards.

I also thought about what you said about Pronger... who knows with older hard hitting, hard playing players?

As for Giroux; four years by today's standard in team sports is a long time. ;)

My first of two Flyer Jerseys was a Richards jersey (my second is Timonen). Of the one's you suggested I'd go with Richards, Pronger, or Giroux. I also like jerseys that are less common, which is why I chose Timonen for my second one.

Where's the Kimmo option? :(

voted for Giroux. Already have a Richards jersey.
Pronger would be my choice after that.
