Don't see him passing through re-entry waivers, so I don't expect anything more than an AHLer in return.

Fitzy 12-12-2010 01:40 PM

Bit of a shame. Kid is a good torts type energy player.

Hope we can get a mid level pick for him.

RGY 12-12-2010 01:43 PM

I dont see many teams lining up for his services. I wouldn't even expect a mid-level pick for him.

Puckface NYR* 12-12-2010 01:43 PM

glad to see this....i was really bothered with the way the rangers handled his situation. Kid deserves to be in the NHL.

Really hope he finds someone thats willing to take him and give him a chance.

If he found a trade though wouldnt he have to pass back through waivers before it becomes official?

azrok22 12-12-2010 01:43 PM

Guess the writing was on the wall in the Whale intro video. Guy looked like he was ready to throw something at the camera and storm off.

Fitzy 12-12-2010 01:46 PM

Wild theory of the day...

Sather told him because he's gearing up to sign Kreider after the WJC, and this opens up a nice roster spot for him.

HatTrick Swayze 12-12-2010 01:46 PM

Only personal move I'm pissed about this year is keeping White over Kennedy. Makes no sense.

wouldnt we lose a year of entry level contract with the kid? at this point id rather him finish this year at boston.

Only if he played 9 NHL games. If he played in the AHL, his ELC would push back a year (because he's under 20). That's what happened with Anisimov and Grachev's ELCs.

That being said, I sincerely doubt Kreider is turning pro after the WJC.

silverfish 12-12-2010 01:59 PM

If a team does trade for him though, wouldn't he have to pass through re-entry like the whole Souray shebang?

Why would a team risk that?

Exactly. Which is why I wouldn't expect anything more than an AHLer back, because for all intents and purposes, Kennedy is an AHLer for at least this season regardless of where he's traded.

I don't see him passing through reentry at such a low cap hit.

NYR Sting 12-12-2010 02:06 PM

LOL. This is the guy that was passed over by every team in the league on waivers this summer. He's a 4th line platoon player at best. I doubt we could get more than a very late round pick for him, or another young guy destined to spend a lot of time in the minors. It's awesome when scrubs feel slighted.

I agree with this. I mean white has done literally nothing. He has been given some opportunities just by letting him be in the lineup. He doesn't hit the net, his shot seems weak, he's slow and thats about it. Kennedy is quicker and younger.

ya keeping white over kennedy turned out to be a great move:help:

SomE 12-12-2010 02:23 PM

i doubt he'd even land dane byers in a trade

TomLaidlaw 12-12-2010 03:23 PM

Wasn't he available to everyone in the league for nothing when he was put on waivers?

Kid had 10 goals as a 21 year old rookie.

The Dane Byers who has had numeroous chances to make it in a 4th line role and couldnt beat our Ryan Hollweg, Jed Ortmeyer, ect? That Dane Byers?

Me too. White brings nothing. Kennedy at least has a good, competitive drive when he's given the respect of being regarded as an NHL player. He's not afraid to stick up for himself or his teammates even though he's smaller. He can bring some tenacity. Thats more than I can say for White.

Mr Atoz* 12-12-2010 08:55 PM

I'd like to hear the rationale for playing White over Kennedy. Has White even been on the score sheet this season?

Callahan Auto 12-12-2010 09:03 PM

Came in here to mention how much I'd prefer Kennedy over White... but you guys seem to have that opinion locked down ;)

TreeSapLlama 12-12-2010 09:53 PM

Can't see him going to any team besides devils and islanders. Guarenteed if any team that tries to call him up he doesn't get past the devils.

think he has an assist............bottom line is cap wise it made no sense to keep White over Kennedy, its almost like they felt bad sending a vet down

How do we know he feels slighted? He probably just wants an opportunity to make an NHL roster, and he knows it's not coming here. He's playing for his livelihood.
