Shipping Hockey equipment

Any estimates as to how much a Hockey bag weighs, with full gear? I want to bring my gear home so I can play over the holidays.

most airlines take sporting equipment at no extra charge.

I just looked into this like two weeks ago (decided not to bring my gear with me). Most airlines will accept hockey bags as one of your checked in bags, but only some will accept a stick bag as one package with your hockey bag. In other words, some airlines will count your hockey bag and stick bag separately.

On that note, is there any other way of sending your sticks? And btw, FAA regulations don't allow you to bring hockey sticks onto the plane as carry on.

UPS or FEDEX will ship but I have no idea on pricing.

I've shipped a bunch of sticks over the years. Just wrap the whole thing in a layer of bubble wrap and then a layer of packing tape. Should be under $15.

Don't bother trying to make a custom box, it only costs you more in shipping.

Well I shipped my skates(via Fedex) today because no matter what bag I brought with me I feared they might pop out.

I decided to go with my backpack bag, everything else fits ok in there.

I just have to go out and purchase a stick bag tomorrow. Do I need to worry about protecting my sticks in any special way or will the stick bags be ok?
