Where do you see him going in the draft?

Ktyice72 is there a new list or thread for the top 97's to watch for the 2011/12 season. Either for just Manitoba like you had before, or foe all the west?

Jamie Benn 08-05-2011 01:46 AM

I know plenty of people who know and have played on the same team with Tanner Browne of JDF , and all of them say he isn't that good. Yes, he's big but based on their opinions, that's about it. Only thing that is decent is his slapshot, which tends to go wide. Once others reach his size in the WHL, he won't "stand out" so much.

Less than 6 months later and Brady Reagan is now 6'2" 190 lbs. He plays out of OHA in Penticton and I would be more than surprised if he goes lower than the second round in this year's draft!

Western Elite has the POE roster and an analysis of every player already.

All it says about OHA Tier 1 is that they have Brady Reagan back on defence, Brad Morrison in from Westside on forward and Brendan Barry in from POE in net.

Is their roster finalized? How will they do this year?

puckfan13 09-27-2011 11:21 PM

Giorgio Estephan from SSAC is another level of skill. What a fun kid to watch.

Offshore Oil 10-10-2011 02:53 AM

check out western elite hockey prospects

they're on top of things and scout BC to MB. Since a lot of these kids play within local zones (and can look pretty good pumping their own tires) the Chilliwack, Med Hat, St Albert and Kamloops tourneys are where the cream rises to the top.
As always, a strong team can make average players look great, especially at this development age - good scouts can tease this out and find diamonds in the rough

So far, as expected - a work in progress - they will be top 10 in BC, maybe top 5 by year end & always play weak sister to POE who have done a great job recruiting elite talent from all of western Canada.

Must be a Bison Parent

too many Bison dmen on that list , there defence is horrible and not one should be in any top list. As for Taupert he is a 98 not a 97.

Anyone here seen Matt Barzal play? BWC... if i'm not mistaken that's where RNH played his minor days as well. Anyways, would be nice to have a description of his game!

itsafansgame101 11-23-2011 11:53 AM

How has Ethan Bear been looking for POE?

Before the year he was probably considered the top player out of Sask.

Heard that he's VERY similar to RNH in how he plays the game. Roughly 5'10 now too, so he has about the same size as RNH had in his draft year.

Heard from a few people very close to this stuff (scouts and WHL team personnel) that Barzal is clearly the top prospect right now.

itsafansgame101 11-24-2011 01:08 PM

I agree that Halbgewachs is the top forward out of Sask. I also agree that both he and Bear will be the only 1st rounders from Sask this year.

Draude is simply to slow a foot to be a 1st rounder, looking at the SBAAHL website it looks as though he will also score up a storm against the weak teams and struggle to register a point against the tough teams.

Nagy is a good talent to and while he has a high skill set he seems to be missing that killer drive that sets out the top picks from the rest.

Campese simply needs to be a lot less selfish. I saw him in Regina, he is an elite talent with one of the hardest shots in bantam hockey and the ability to turn a game around but just is not playing a game that allows for his strengths to shine.

Olson always has the oxygen tank attached, playing 50 plus minutes a game. He has the size and offensive skills to be a top end defenceman.

Riddle is big and strong, reminds me of a young Jared Cowan.

Futures 12-09-2011 04:21 PM

Estephan's skating is horrible, big kid with good hands but don't think he will do well at the next level with that skating

kristastick 12-13-2011 01:09 AM

do you think Kris Leclair will get drafted into WHL the this year ?

Thekid1997 12-15-2011 11:53 PM

Has anybody heard of javon chomini from seine river snipers?if so any thoughts or comments on his performance

97 Prospect Josh Wilkins

Josh Wilkins, 14 5'10" 165 may drafted by either OHL or WHL depending on where he is living this Spring.

Wilkins is currently center for Carolina Junior Hurricanes Bantam AAA. 62 points in 34 games and is also solid defenseman. Has set up Jr. Canes winger Gavin Walker (71 points) Recently played tourney with L.A. Junior Kings during winter vacation. Upset #19 Arizona Bobcats 2-1 and lost close game (5-3) to # 14 Colorado Thunderbirds including shorthanded 5 on 3 goal while on penalty kill. LA Junior Kings ranked #53 at the time.

Didn't participate last year in National Camps last year but understand this year he will. One to watch.

Depends on where they are actually from, not where they are currently playing. See Adam Erne, who played for cross town rival LA Selects, and also in the Midwest (USHL), but was still drafted to the Q because he was from Connecticut I believe.

Played against Matthew Campese last summer, kid has got great skills
