Rangers Prospect Poll: #2

Derek Stepan easily won the honor of being our top prospect for the second straight time with nearly 80% of the vote.

There was also near-universal agreement to add Michael Sauer to the list. (Based on the HF guidelines of who's a prospect: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect)

Don't forget to vote who should be added this round and mention why you are voting for the guy you are voting for.

This should also be an easy round.

Add Ryan Bourque. He's been too good in juniors and WJC not to be on our list by round 3.

darko 01-02-2011 06:00 PM

Kreider, add Werek

BlueshirtBlitz 01-02-2011 06:02 PM

Kreider, add Werek.

2009 looks like it was also an excellent draft. Kreider, Werek, Bourque and Horak as the first 4 picks of the draft. What's not to like?

It may turn out better than 2008, or at least close to it.

nyr2k2 01-02-2011 06:15 PM

Kreider. Add Werek.

JeffMangum 01-02-2011 06:15 PM

Kreider, add Grachev.

jniklast 01-02-2011 06:19 PM

Kreider, add Grachev.

Seriously, why is someone like Thomas on the list, but Grachev isn't? Thomas isn't doing anything that Grachev hasn't done. And Grachev doesn't have the size concerns.

What are you talking about?! Thomas is carrying his team all by himself, on pace for 100 points.

Grachev had 80 points while playing with two great linemates.

Let me re-cap it for you: Thomas is doing more with less... and he didn't mess up for two seasons in the AHL.

Size is size, but I'd rather have a small Oshawa center who dominates the OHL than a big guy who is struggling. And I'm not just talking about Marc Savard and Hugh Jessiman.

Kreider, Add Ethan Werek

DMPD 01-02-2011 06:25 PM

Kreider, add Grachev.

Kreider. Add Grachev.

JeffMangum 01-02-2011 06:26 PM

lol @ people totally bailing on Grachev. He's 20, and he has a great skillset. Sometimes it takes players a while to develop fully, and it's been a developmental mess in Hartford.

Ih8theislanders 01-02-2011 06:44 PM

Kreider and it's not even close. Add Werek.

TheRedViper 01-02-2011 06:59 PM

Kreider by a mile. Add Bourque

Thomas is a winger. And there have been many smallish players that have dominated juniors, but can't do jack in the NHL. And there's a reason why Grachev was still #3 on the last prospect list despite struggling in the AHL. But I gues "what have you done for me lately" is more important...

I'm not going to argue who's the better prospect at this point because both have their pros/cons, but have you watched Thomas play? Or are you just ooposed to the possibility that he could be a better prospect because you feel that everyone is underrating Grachev now?

eco's bones 01-02-2011 07:46 PM

Kreider. Add Valentenko.

It's not what have you done for me lately, it's what have you done for me ever.

He had one season where he put up good numbers with good linemates. You know how often that happens? Like I said, look at Bob Maudie and his 101 points while playing with Jerome Iginla.

You know the first time I made this comparison? When Grachev was in juniors, and I got attacked for it here.

Grachev never showed us anything outside of that season. But I will gladly eat crow if he turns it around.

DMPD 01-02-2011 07:56 PM

Okay, who ruined Kreider's shutout? :sarcasm:

Grachev only had one good linemate =), and he created alot of his scoring himself, that said, he physically dominated the OHL, and it's going to take longer than we all expected for him to adapt. I do believe that he will adapt though...

Point taken about his lack of production, but come on, Bob Maudie? Grachev was highly regarded before his awesome WHL season. He slipped to round three because he was Russian. Maudie was never even considered a legitimate prospect, and was one of the last picks of that draft. You get attacked for that comparison because it's a bad comparison. There are really no similarities between the two.

Fitzy 01-02-2011 08:49 PM

Kreider, add Werek.

RGY 01-02-2011 08:55 PM

Kreider, add Bourque
