Frolov Out for Season

Indication is that Frolov is going to be out for a while with knee. Another recall will be necessary.
Who's next on the depth chart? Grachev or a career AHLer? Regret sending Kennedy down instead of White from the beginning now, Sather?

nyr2k2 01-09-2011 01:19 PM

Grachev, I'd guess. He can fill a similar role.

What is the difference? They are both down there.

FutureGM97 01-09-2011 01:19 PM

Well the frequency of wrap-arounds will go down (hopefully)

The difference being, there would've been no pressure to send Kennedy down to clear cap space. If Kennedy had been our extra forward, I don't think he would've been sent down when White was.

I dunno, I think he would have been sent down regardless just to get playing time. Its not fair to have him sit in the press box. Especially when Drury came back.

Nobody could have predicted so many injuries.

Bulls9220 01-09-2011 01:23 PM

Why not Newbury or Williams? Theyre both doing good.

Fair enough.

BlueshirtBlitz 01-09-2011 01:24 PM

Call up Grachev.

Rangers44* 01-09-2011 01:28 PM

Grachev or Kennedy (if we lose him so be it) or Newbury

Bulls9220 01-09-2011 01:29 PM

whats callys status?

Vitto79 01-09-2011 01:31 PM

i bet it's Kennedy. Its only 300K on the cap which is 150 K now if he gets claimed. Whatever, try him and if not Grachev or even Newbury to C the 4th line

Supposedly starting to skate today (Prospal to re-start skating too), but I'd assume they're still weeks away.

A few days ago they were still saying 3-4 weeks.

Killem Dafoe 01-09-2011 01:33 PM

Grachev most likely. I'd like to see Williams give it another go here. he's tearin it up down there and has some chemistry with MZA. although i like MZA with dubs and Steps

t3hg00se 01-09-2011 01:44 PM

Has to be Grachev, especially with his game heating up in Connecticut.

MaximusT 01-09-2011 01:45 PM

Hopefully he's back in time to tear it up for the playoffs.
Grachev is coming up, has to be

Also Kennedy need to clear waivers?

Kennedy needs to clear re-entry waivers to be recalled. A team could then claim him at 50% of the cost.

Yeah Kennedy does need to clear waivers. I think he probably would, though someone would be tempted to take him for 275k on reentry waivers.

Fitzy 01-09-2011 02:04 PM

Call up Williams or Newbury. Too many rookies at one time, this team needs a guy that they can feel comfortable playing more than 5 minutes a game. As of right now Grachev is not that guy.

Both Newbury and Williams have legitimate NHL experience. Williams as a winger would probably be the best choice.

Rangers44* 01-09-2011 02:12 PM

I think Williams is just invisible in NHL, don't want him. Newbury looked good in preseason and had a great fight.

CH2 01-09-2011 02:19 PM

How many contracts to the Rangers have? Because Jason Williams is playing with Hartford right now, has a ton of NHL experience.

free0717 01-09-2011 02:23 PM

Can we bring up Kennedy on emergency recall without him going thru waivers?

haohmaru 01-09-2011 02:27 PM

Recall Kennedy and see what happens. He's not signing here again anyway. Call up Newbury, too. At least he's got 48 NHL games under his belt and has been scoring at the AHL level. Grachev, and his 11 points, should stay in Hartford.
