Brett Lebda - Anyone like him?

I was wondering yesterday, that past few years, we've had our scapegoats. Beauch, Kessel, Kaberle, etc... But they all "turn it around" and everyone stops. Now...

Is there a single person in here who doesn't despise Brett Lebda?

crazyaces* 01-12-2011 11:27 AM

Lebda and I get along just fine, when he's sitting in the press box.

LakeshoreWest 01-12-2011 11:47 AM

What's not to like?

Espher 01-12-2011 11:51 AM

I was happy with the signing.

Unfortunately he has played like complete garbage over here. :/

I liked him a ton when he was in Detroit. Playing in such a structured system flat out made him look better than he is. He's been a disaster this year.

Cap'n Flavour 01-12-2011 11:54 AM

He put up 8 points in 63 games on a good team last year. I don't know why anyone would have expected him to contribute anything other than wasted cap space.

Smif 01-12-2011 11:56 AM

I like him a lot! Him and Finger should be the top tandem going into the AHL playoffs.

To be fair, he really didn't get a ton of opportunities to excel in Detroit. He got all of 4 seconds a game on the PP, maybe 14 minutes total. He was playing behind a bunch of superior players.

I lost a bet please disregard the above comment...

very bad signing. waste of money and space.
Mitchell is not as bad as people think; he works hard out there. I only wish it were easier to weed out the problems on D.....

the funny thing is. Other than Kaberle and Schenn the defense is what is bringing us down a notch. At the start of the year; i figured we would be rock solid on the back end. If someone is dumb enough to take Komisarek off our hands; i would be ecstatic.

The Iceman 01-12-2011 12:14 PM

I am sure his dog likes him.

blasted_Sabre 01-12-2011 12:15 PM

I'd rather have Aki Berg. Yep, you heard me right, Aki Berg.

JAMmer124 01-12-2011 12:16 PM

The more time he spends off the ice, preferably in the press box, the more I like him.

Its Wilsons job to play the guys he thinks are the right group, and our group of players, D especially, seem to be a lot worse when he is in the line-up.

Sitting in the press box, hes OK in my books!

Darcy Tucker 01-12-2011 12:16 PM

i wish i could get paid millions of dollars to watch the leafs from the press box.

Federko 01-12-2011 12:18 PM

Not really. He's a liability. No way will I accept mediocrity any longer. That goes for guys like Mitchell, Giggy, Komisarek, etc It's time to stop making excuses for players that can't handle our system, can't stop the puck, can't play D , can't be effective in the offensive zone.... or just overall - players that make bonehead plays in the defensive end or neutral zone especially...I hate give aways. It makes us look like a bunch of minor leaguers. Sure they happen, but some of our stinky players seem like they can't help themselves.

Thus - in my opinion, the mediocrity needs no love nor respect from us Leaf fans. Lebda is mediocre AT BEST. He can be replaced by an AHLer ala Aulie, Mikus or Finger. Yes there I said it Jeff Finger - who's a little bit less mediocre then Lebda.

Woll Smoth 01-12-2011 12:18 PM

The opposition

Darcy Tucker 01-12-2011 12:21 PM

-18 in 20 games is just brutal. it cant be bad timing for him to get so many minuses, hes a liability. u have to play aulie ahead of him just based on the fact that he doesnt get scored on every shift.

zeke 01-12-2011 12:22 PM

The scary thing is that he was signed to replace Kaberle.

NigelTufnel 01-12-2011 12:24 PM

Sure, there's lots of people like him.

They're called AHL players.

Lebda shouldnt be on the top 4 on the Marlies. hes just that bad. outside of ok skating he doesnt do anything at an NHL level. he doesnt play physical, he passes horribly, and his puck awareness is bad. he should be waived.
