I don't think giving up Ottawa's three toughest players is a good idea.

1) So who would we be drafting #1 overall next year?
2) Ruutu doesn't get traded?
3) Carkner is only worth a 4th? Ha, we'll keep him!
4) Neil is only worth a 4th? Ha, we'll keep him!

Edmonton would give you atleast a third for both Carkner and Niel. Likely more.

Ruutu should get traded, I just forgot where I wanted to deal him to :P.

Also, I don't think we'd be in last place next year if we cleaned house. A lot of those guys are UFA's.

I think it would be awesome to see Mike Fisher in Nashville, solely because Carrie Underwood is from Oklahoma, they're not neighboring states, but they're close. Then there is the music factor which Nashville is known and famous for. Fisher also fits Nashville's style of play very well imo.

We have no need for Campoli. We need top 4 PMD.

He is. He's been solid this year. Added a lot of fight to his game and has learned to defend because he's has to keep an eye on Kuba and such. He is also not afraid of the boards anymore.

He would be a good player for Boston.

Yeah, because we don't have a clue about a player that we watch every game, meanwhile somebody who I'm guessing gets to view him less then 10 games per year (if that) has a more informed opinion.

Sigh. In the non-hf boards world, just because someone was drafted as a first round pick doesn't make it cumulative.

I.E., Brian Lee + Patrick Eaves is not worth Henrik Zetterberg or Pavel Datsyuk.

If you want to argue about he's not worth Austin Watson and a 2nd, fine. It's stupid and pointless to suggest he's not worth a 1st and a 2nd.

The Dallas deal is awful, it'd be like us giving up Cowen+2nd for Dan Hamhuis last year... Nashville is also way above Fishers value. Aside from that, the only deal I'd do is the Kuba one.

Value is definitely off but Stars do need an improvement on their backend.

It's not comparable to Cowen + 2nd.

It's comparable to Eaves + 2nd or Foligno + 2nd or another middle to late 1st round pick.

I don't have a problem with either of the above for Hamhuis.


EDIT: To be clear, I also think Scott Glennie, due to size, is less likely to be an impact player (despite his high draft ranking). I also think the asking price for Chris Phillips will be a prospect of that caliber at minimum.

What in the world is stupid about that? And yeah, I think someone being drafted like 6 months ago in the first round of a deep draft indicates he is the equivalent value of a 1st.
